Honestly, when I first pulled up to Bougan Villa in Lardos, I wasn’t expecting much – you know how these smaller Greek villages can be hit or miss with accommodations. But this place actually surprised me in the best way possible. It’s tucked away from the main tourist drag (which, let’s be real, Lardos doesn’t really have one anyway), and there’s something immediately calming about the whole setup. The owner greeted us personally during check-in, which I mean, you don’t get that at the big chain places in Rhodes Town.

What really got me was how they’ve managed to keep that authentic Greek villa feel without skimping on the details that actually matter when you’re traveling. The rooms have this perfect balance – traditional stone work and local touches, but the air conditioning actually works properly and the WiFi doesn’t cut out every five minutes. I stayed there during late June, so it was already getting pretty warm, and honestly the pool area became my second home. It’s not huge or fancy, but it’s spotlessly clean and gets morning sun without being blazing hot all day. The poolside area has these comfortable loungers that don’t fall apart when you sit on them – trust me, I’ve experienced the alternative at other places around the Dodecanese.

Location-wise, you’re about a ten-minute walk to Lardos Beach, which is actually one of the better stretches of sand on this part of Rhodes if you ask me. Way less crowded than Lindos (though you’re close enough to do a day trip there), and the water’s that incredible blue-green you see in all the photos. The village itself is pretty quiet – there’s a decent taverna called Symposium just down the road where the locals actually eat, and a small market for basics, but you’ll want to rent a car or scooter if you’re planning to explore much. Parking at the villa is no problem, which honestly was a relief because I’d heard horror stories about trying to park in some of these village places. The staff gave me great recommendations too – they pointed me toward this little beach called Glystra that I never would’ve found on my own, and it ended up being one of my favorite spots on the whole island. You know what really sealed it for me though? The attention to those small things that show someone actually cares about your experience. Fresh towels appeared without asking, the breakfast (when I added it) featured local honey and cheese that actually tasted like something, and when I mentioned I was interested in hiking, they had detailed trail maps and even offered to pack water bottles. It’s that kind of place where a perfect 10 rating makes complete sense.

  Villa is located just outside the village centre, in a short walking distance. Quiet location and no noisy neighbours. Pool was ideally placed so that it had areas in the shadows as the Sun moved along the day. Lot of spaces inside and outside available. Really recommend to families with children.
