I’ll be honest – when I first saw the name “Bonseye 2Floor,” I wasn’t sure what to expect, but this little gem on the road between Kalavárda and Émbona completely caught me off guard. You know that feeling when you stumble onto something that’s way better than the photos suggested? That’s exactly what happened here.

The location is actually pretty brilliant if you know Rhodes at all. Most people rush straight to the touristy bits, but this stretch of the Kalavárda-Émbona road puts you right in the sweet spot – close enough to the coast that you can hear the waves on quiet evenings, but tucked into the hills where you get those incredible sunset views over the Aegean. I mean, the whole western side of Rhodes gets gorgeous light in the evening, but from here you’re elevated just enough to see over the olive groves down to the water. The owners clearly knew what they were doing when they picked this spot.

What really won me over, though, was how thoughtfully everything’s set up. It’s a two-story place (hence the name, I assume), and honestly, both levels have their charm – ground floor if you want to step right out into the garden area, upstairs if you’re after those killer views I mentioned. The rooms have this relaxed, uncluttered vibe that actually lets you unwind instead of feeling like you’re in some sterile hotel box. There’s proper air conditioning that doesn’t sound like a freight train, which matters more than you’d think during those hot July afternoons. Parking’s right there too – no hunting around narrow village streets with your rental car.

The whole area stays pretty quiet even in peak season since you’re off the main tourist drag, but you’re still only about a 15-minute drive from Kalavárda’s beach if you want proper sand and tavernas. I actually preferred the smaller coves you can reach on foot from here – rockier, sure, but the water’s that incredible clear blue you see in postcards. Early morning walks along the coastal path are something else entirely; you’ll probably have it to yourself except for the occasional local fisherman.

What strikes me most is how the place manages to feel both secluded and accessible. You’re surrounded by that classic Mediterranean landscape – wild herbs growing everywhere (the whole hillside smells like thyme after it rains), ancient stone walls, those gnarled olive trees that look like they’ve been here forever. But you’ve got solid wifi, a proper shower with decent water pressure, and a little kitchenette if you want to grab supplies from the village and make your own breakfast on the terrace.

The 9.6 rating makes complete sense once you’ve been there – it’s one of those places where everything just works without any fuss or drama. Check-in was smooth, the space was exactly as advertised, and honestly, leaving was harder than I expected. If you’re the type who wants to experience the real Rhodes beyond the cruise ship crowds but still sleep comfortably at night, this hits that balance perfectly.

  The apartment was clean and set out well, very spacious. Friendly neighbourhood, family friendly atmosphere. Would definitely stay again.

  Great stay in Rhodes! The Airbnb was clean, well-located, and cozy. Just a short walk to the beach and local shops. The hosts were friendly and made sure we had everything we needed. Highly recommend!

  Die Unterkunft war super, man hat das idyllische Leben aus Griechenland wahrgenommen. Es war sehr sauber worauf ich großen Wert lege. Foivos der Vermieter, war sehr freundlich und half mir zu erklären, wo es die besten Restaurant aber auch Sehenswürdigkeiten gibt. Alles in allem eine klasse Unterkunft.

  Ή εμπειρία μου στο Bonseye ήταν εξαιρετική! Το σπίτι βρίσκεται σε ένα ήσυχο χωριό, τα Καλαβάρδα, μόλις 8-10 λεπτά με τα πόδια από τη θάλασσα, προσφέροντας την τέλεια ισορροπία ανάμεσα στην ηρεμία και την πρόσβαση στην παραλία. Το σπίτι είναι φωτεινό και άνετο, με μια ευρύχωρη κρεβατοκάμαρα στον δεύτερο όροφο. Όταν φτάσαμε, το καλωσόρισμα ήταν πολύ θερμό, καθώς μας περίμενε ένα καλαθάκι με ντόπια παραδοσιακά προϊόντα, που μας έκανε να νιώσουμε σαν στο σπίτι μας και να «πάρουμε μια γεύση της Ρόδου» από την πρώτη στιγμή. Ο ιδιοκτήτης ήταν εξαιρετικά φιλικός και συνεννοήσιμος, πάντοτε διαθέσιμος και πρόθυμος να βοηθήσει με ό,τι χρειαστήκαμε. Σίγουρα θα το συνιστούσα και θα ξαναεπισκεφτώ το Bonseye την επόμενη φορά!

  Rent, ryddig og enkelt. God plass.
  
  What could be improved: Trappen inne, opp til andre etasje. Jeg kunne likte en større markise på terrassen. Det kunne også vært en markise oppe på den lille terrassen.
