Hotel Description

You know what struck me first about Blue Sea Island? It’s actually got this perfect spot on Berlin Street in Kolimbia where you’re close enough to everything but far enough from the main tourist chaos. I mean, you can walk to the beach in maybe five minutes, but you’re not dealing with crowds right outside your door – which honestly makes all the difference when you’re trying to sleep in.

The place has that authentic Greek island vibe without trying too hard, if that makes sense. It’s a solid 4-star property, and they’ve earned that 8.5 rating because they get the details right. The rooms are clean and comfortable (not fancy, but who needs fancy when you’re spending most of your time exploring anyway), and the staff actually remembers your name after a day or two. What I really appreciated was how quiet it gets at night – you’ll hear the occasional scooter puttering by, but none of that late-night party noise you get closer to the main strip. The check-in was surprisingly smooth too, even though we arrived during that crazy afternoon rush when half the island seems to be switching hotels.

Here’s the thing about Kolimbia that a lot of people don’t realize – it’s got this perfect balance where you can grab fresh seafood at the little tavernas just down the street (there’s this place called Dimitri’s that locals actually go to), but you’re also only about a 15-minute drive from Rhodes Town when you want to do the whole medieval city thing. The hotel sits right in that sweet spot where you feel like you’re experiencing real Greek island life, not just the tourist version. Parking isn’t a nightmare like some places – there’s usually space, though it fills up pretty quick during August. And honestly, the morning coffee on their terrace while watching Kolimbia wake up? That’s worth the stay right there. The whole area has this relaxed rhythm where things move slower but not frustratingly slow, and Blue Sea Island just fits right into that vibe. You’re not paying resort prices, but you’re getting that genuine Greek hospitality that makes you want to extend your stay an extra couple days.

Reviews

  • Nikoletta from Cyprus – 17 June 2025 (9/10)

The staff were very friendly and welcoming, which made the experience even better. The entire hotel was clean and well-maintained, which I really appreciated. There was also a nice variety of food available, with options to suit different tastes. Overall, a comfortable and pleasant stay—I’d definitely recommend it!

  • Piia from Finland – 17 June 2025 (9/10)

Beautiful location and hotel facilities, clean, good reastaurants, stayed at the ”sea side”

What could be improved: Too long from the airport, would be good to have a shuttle bus

  • Skaistė from Lithuania – 13 June 2025 (8/10)

The hotel is beautiful and well-designed. Both rooms we stayed in were spacious and nicely decorated. The beds were comfortable, and the outdoor areas looked very pleasant. The food was tasty with a fairly good variety.
We also appreciated discovering the kids’ pool with water slides and a playground across the street — a great facility for families.
Nice beach and pools. Also there is a live concert and kids show every evening.

What could be improved: There were several issues during our stay. First, we were given a better room for the first night and told we’d have to move to the room we originally booked the next day. That was fine, but the first room had a smell of mold and dampness due to poor ventilation — the door and window opened directly to the outside, and the bathroom at the back didn’t air out properly. Everything, including towels and toothbrushes, stayed damp. There was also a occasional sewage smell while sitting on the terrace.
The room change process was a bit stressful. Reception told us to come at 9 a.m. and then asked us to pack everything by 11 a.m., leave our luggage in the lobby, and wait until the new room was ready “as soon as possible.” We were traveling with a small child who naps at noon, so this arrangement didn’t work for us. Eventually, they allowed us to stay longer in the room, but we were made to feel like we were causing a problem. I found it stressful and a bit unprofessional.

Another big issue was mosquitoes — they were a serious problem in both rooms, especially in the first one where the entrance led directly outside. Every time we opened the door, a large number of mosquitoes flew in, making it impossible to enjoy the terrace or keep the space insect-free.
Lastly, no one informed us about the kids’ area across the street, even though it was clearly relevant to our stay with a child. We found out only on 3rd day of our stay by accidentally checking Booking.com photos. The bed in the second room was squeaky (but comfortable), and drinks at the bar were noticeably diluted — perhaps expected for all-inclusive, but still worth mentioning.

It was amazing experience and the stuff was great and very helpful .

    What could be improved: Nothing

  • Francisco from United Kingdom – 8 June 2025 (9/10)

Great all-inclusive resort. The food was very good. We never once had to worry about food or drink, as it's always available until 23:30. There's even a small buffet for late arrivals which we used – so if you arrive after dinner is closed, you won't have to go to sleep hungry. The pool area was very nice, and so was the beach. The hotel was fully booked every day, but it never felt very crowded – except when it rained and outdoor tables were unavailable at the restaurant (in those cases there were queues for tables), but that is a rare occurrence.

What could be improved: The gym was a huge let down. I already go 3 times a week, but being an in all-inclusive resort makes me want to go every day, for obvious reasons. However, this resort's gym is so rudimentary (just a treadmill and a bunch of freeweights) that it was greatly disappointing: I wouldn't even call it a gym …. I guess it's there just to tick the box from the hotel's point of view. Another thing I didn't really like, but was expecting, was the quality of the drinks. I don't drink much alcohol anyway so this was actually fine for me — no one should expect great wines and spirits at an all-inclusive, and this one is no exception.

  • Solo from United Kingdom – 5 June 2025 (8/10)

The room was great and cleaned every day. The food was excellent with so much choice including fresh fruit and veg and salads.

The bars were good serving any cocktail you wanted. There was wine on tap in the restaurant.

There were 2 pools. The beach offered the chance to do a nice walk to get away from the crowds.

The staff were, on the whole , friendly.

There were beach towels available and replaced every 2 days.

What could be improved: The adults only pool was not supervised or policed therefore it was used by children with inflatables on a daily basis. Fine if you don't mind sharing it with babies and toddlers in swimmer nappies. Not for me as a solo traveller

  • Magdalena from Netherlands – 26 May 2025 (8/10)

The hotel is beautiful with a lovely location. It is very clean and there is plenty to do for the children. However, I found the attitude of the afternoon reception staff to be unhelpful. They seemed irritated and uninterested in understanding the guests' questions. Fortunately, the staff throughout the hotel was very friendly and helpful; they did an excellent job! However, the food was disappointing; it was of poor quality, lacking flavor and variety.

What could be improved: the attitude of the afternoon reception staff to be unhelpful. And the food.

  • Edgar from Estonia – 6 May 2025 (8/10)

Overall the room was spacious, we had access to the beach. The food was exceptional, especially the pizza.

What could be improved: The room was damp and cold.

  • Joonas from Germany – 5 May 2025 (7/10)

Amazing food and very friendly staff. The location is also really good.

What could be improved: Some of the rooms are basically in the basement and they tend to have a lot of moisture in them. At first we received such a room and the climate in there was basically like in a rain forest with a smell of mold. But then we were able to luckily change the room for a decent one.

  • Suzanne from Ireland – 19 November 2024 (8/10)

Facilities, the pools, games room, restaurant. The staff

What could be improved: Not a huge selection for children in the buffet restaurant but my children are picky and missed having chicken nuggets.
We had a room with a double and 2 sofa beds. Double bed was very comfortable but our children who are 12 and 13 found the sofa beds a bit small. The room was very big and spacious though. Really couldn't fault the hotel.
