You know what struck me first about Blue Horizon? It’s that perfect sweet spot right on Ferenikis Beach where you’re actually ON the beach in Ialyssos, but you’re not dealing with the chaos of Rhodes town. I mean, don’t get me wrong – Rhodes is gorgeous, but sometimes you want that laid-back vibe without having to fight for a decent spot on the sand. The hotel sits practically with its toes in the water, and honestly, I’ve stayed at plenty of “beachfront” places that require a small hike to actually see the sea.

The whole setup feels more authentic Greek island than some of the massive resort complexes you’ll find elsewhere on Rhodes. It’s got that 4-star comfort level – you know, everything works properly, the AC doesn’t sound like a freight train, and the WiFi actually reaches your room – but without feeling sterile or overly polished. The staff genuinely seems to know the area well, which is refreshing. They pointed me toward this little taverna about a 10-minute walk down the coast that I never would’ve found otherwise, and it ended up being one of those perfect evenings where you’re eating fresh octopus while watching the sunset paint everything golden. The beach itself is this lovely mix of sand and those smooth pebbles, and the water stays pretty calm thanks to the way the coastline curves here. I noticed families with smaller kids really appreciated that – no dramatic waves to worry about.

What really sold me on the place, though, was how it handles the practical stuff without making a big deal about it. Parking’s straightforward (trust me, this matters more than you think in Greece), check-in was quick even though we arrived during what seemed like a busy afternoon, and the rooms face the water so you actually wake up to that view instead of staring at the parking lot. The location puts you close enough to Ialyssos town that you can walk there for dinner – maybe 15 minutes if you’re taking your time – but far enough that you’re not hearing scooters and late-night conversations under your window. I’d say it hits that 8.5 rating pretty accurately; it’s not going to blow your mind with luxury, but it delivers exactly what you’re hoping for from a Greek island beach stay without any nasty surprises.

  What could be improved: Was told I need to pay 80 euro for a few extra hours in room when I seen online I could get a extra night for 52 euro

  We booked this hotel for the last night of our greek islands trip as it was close to Rhodes airport. Our room was a good size with a lovely balcony with a pool and seaview. The bed was very comfortable
  Breakfast was amazing! So much choice and freshly made omelettes.
  The bar staff were really friendly and made great cocktails. There is a snack bar near the beach with very reasonably priced pizzas, sandwiches, gyros etc.
  There is a small shop near reception where you can buy water/ snacks/ suncream etc
  We had a late flight but there is somewhere to shower and change even after checking out.
  Plenty of nearby restaurants and supermarkets.
  
  What could be improved: You are directly under the flight path so can't escape the noise.
  Better blackout curtains needed.

  It was a fantastic location and the view from our hotel room was superb. The staff were all friendly, helpful and kind. Nothing was too much trouble and the hotel was clean and tidy.
