Hotel Description

You know what struck me first about the Belmare? It’s tucked away in Lardos in this spot where you can actually hear the waves at night – not something you get at every hotel claiming to be “seaside.” The adults-only thing isn’t just a marketing gimmick here; they’ve really committed to creating this laid-back vibe where you won’t find screaming kids cannon-balling into the pool at 7 AM.

The location is honestly pretty smart. Lardos isn’t one of those crazy touristy spots like Faliraki, but you’re not stuck in the middle of nowhere either. There’s this little taverna about a five-minute walk down the road – Michalis, I think it’s called – where the locals actually eat, which tells you something. The beach is maybe a ten-minute stroll, and it’s one of those pebbly-sand situations that’s not Instagram-perfect but feels more… real, I guess. Less crowded too, especially if you head out early morning or late afternoon.

The hotel itself has that Mediterranean whitewashed look that works really well with the landscape. My room faced the courtyard (which was fine by me – courtyard rooms are quieter and you still get decent light), and honestly, the space was bigger than I expected for a four-star place. The AC actually worked properly – not always a given in Greece during summer, trust me. What I really appreciated was the little kitchenette setup; nothing fancy, but you can make coffee the way you like it and store some of those amazing Greek yogurts and honey you’ll inevitably buy at the local market. The bathroom was one of those walk-in shower situations that’s either perfect or a flooding disaster, and thankfully this one had proper drainage.

The pool area is where they really got it right. It’s not huge, but it doesn’t need to be – there’s enough space to find your own corner, and the poolside bar makes a surprisingly decent freddo cappuccino. I spent quite a few afternoons there with a book, and the staff (especially this guy Nikos) would check in without being pushy about ordering drinks every five minutes. The evening crowd tends to be couples in their thirties and up, lots of Germans and Brits, pretty chill overall.

I’ll be honest – the 7.1 rating makes sense. It’s not luxury, and there are some rough edges. The WiFi gets spotty in the evenings when everyone’s online, and the breakfast, while decent, is pretty standard hotel fare. But here’s the thing: it feels genuine. The owner clearly cares about the place – you’ll see him around, making sure things are running smoothly. The location gives you that authentic Greek island experience without the chaos, and the adults-only policy means you can actually relax by the pool with a book and a drink without constant splashing and shouting. For what you pay, especially if you catch it outside peak season, it’s solid value. Just don’t expect Instagram-worthy luxury – expect a comfortable, well-run place where you can actually unwind and explore a less touristy part of Rhodes.

Overall a lovely stay!! Staff are super friendly and kind, especially Anna-Maria and the daytime pool bartender (sadly didn’t catch her name), both made our stay even more special! There was a slight mix up with rooms upon arrival but was sorted out right away with no issues. Our pool room was so perfect, clean, and the best way to spend a relaxing holiday (although the bed was quite hard). We

What could be improved: We went all inclusive which is worth it for the drinks, however, the only downside was the food. We didn’t eat at the buffet offered, but did go to the rooftop terrace for a meal, which was made to seem “exclusive” as they only offer three tables per night. The menu was not explained, we found out after that it was trying to be a tapas/sharing ordeal. The food that was ordered seemed to be the exact same food from the buffet (but colder), no extra plates were offered to dish the food from, tiny portions and overall a very poor quality of food, which is a pity considering the atmosphere and overall aesthetic of the rooftop terrace is incredible. There are some lovely restaurants just across the road and down onto the beach which I recommend over the food at the Belmare.

great little hotel, we had a swim up room and the pool was amazing. we had an end one so it was a very good size. There is a nice little bar serving drink all day until 11. Food was very nice. staff all lovely and very friendly.

What could be improved: Rooms are a bit small but very clean and modern.

  • Ashley from United Kingdom – 21 July 2024 (8/10)

The hotel is gorgeous and clean and the staff have the best customer services I have known.

What could be improved: There was not anything I can say bad about the property

  • Marianne from United Kingdom – 12 July 2024 (7/10)

Great location, lots of bars, shops and restaurants near by. Only a 5 min walk to the beach. The rooms are clean and the staff were friendly.
It was a good affordable all inclusive and the private pools were great.

What could be improved: The curtains in the bedroom were very thin and didn’t block any light out. If you’re a light sleeper and sensitive to the light you need an eye mask.
The all inclusive food was hit and miss. The cocktails were not drinkable.
Could also do with a do not disturb sign for the room doors – we were woken up by the cleaner every morning and there was no way of letting her know we wanted privacy in the mornings.
I would suggest it was more of a 3 star than a 4 star hotel

  • Kelly from United States – 31 May 2024 (7/10)

The pool and loungers at the honeymoon suite were great. Bed was comfortable. Staff were wonderful.

What could be improved: Meals in the dining area looked and felt like being in a cafeteria. No ambiance and food was mediocre. The location was on a busy road.

  • Yvonne from United Kingdom – 4 October 2023 (8/10)

    Location cleanliness friendly

What could be improved: Breakfast finished too early. Food just ok

  • Niovi from Canada – 25 September 2023 (8/10)

The hotel is a good size and good location, very clean and food was very good, large variety. Staff friendly.

What could be improved: Unfortunately we found the beds very hard and uncomfortable and they were all the same. Ended up sleeping on a cushion from a pool chair.

  • Andrew from United Kingdom – 9 September 2023 (6/10)

Location , private pool nice staff and food was good for a AI. Hotel is lovely we’ll appointed and near the beach

What could be improved: On arrival was told our room which we had specifically booked was not available. Next day was a hassle sorting it out , was told we had an upgrade due to the hassle which it wasn’t as it was the room we should have had on arrival. Tried to charge another £600 compared to the original price which is another £100 per night ! . Maintenance team seem to think it’s ok to drill and work literally 2 ft away from room/ private pool regardless of reception telling them not to. Came back one day to find them IN the room doing something . Last day they where out power washing the front door to our room at 8am. Power cut to our block at 1am meant no air con which meant no sleep.

  • Ellen from United Kingdom – 30 August 2023 (8/10)

Food plenty of variation. Drinks recommend pina colada. Staff friendly. Private pool a big plus.
Meal at top roof top bar recommended.
    Friendly bar staff
Would recommend as a hotel but see note didn't like.

What could be improved: Paid extra for honeymoon suite. Got nice room but no rose petal or champagne as advertised in pictures.Lack of wow factor. When queried told pics just for show…..false advertising.
When questioned, we received a bottle of wine, but we got that in all-inclusive anyway
. Fridge in room, not mini bar.
Would recommend paying for basics and requesting room upgrade if possible as lots of rooms with pools.
Got charged for honeymoon suite despite it not being this. People in the next room paid for the deluxe and got the same room layout.

  • Lydia from United Kingdom – 9 July 2023 (7/10)

    Clean rooms, good location

What could be improved: Food wasn’t great at all
