Honestly, I wasn’t expecting much when I first pulled up to Beachfront Studio Socrates – I mean, the name sounds a bit grandiose for what looks like a simple studio setup along that winding road from Pilona to Katavias. But you know what? Sometimes the places that don’t try too hard end up being exactly what you need. This little gem sits right in Gennadi, which if you haven’t been, is one of those sleepy Greek villages that hasn’t been completely overtaken by tour buses yet. The beach here is actually incredible – long stretch of pebbles and sand that feels almost private, especially if you walk south a bit from the main village area.

What really got me about this place was how the owner (I think his name was Dimitris, but don’t quote me on that) actually seemed to care about the details that matter. The studio itself is nothing fancy, but everything works properly – and I mean everything. The air conditioning doesn’t sound like a jet engine, the shower has decent water pressure, and there’s this little kitchenette that’s actually equipped with real dishes, not those flimsy plastic things you usually get. The bed faces the water, so you wake up to this view of the Aegean that honestly makes you forget about checking your phone for at least ten minutes. There’s free parking right outside, which sounds basic but trust me, after driving around Rhodes looking for spots, you’ll appreciate it. The only minor thing – and this might actually be a plus for some people – is that it gets pretty quiet here at night. Like, really quiet. If you’re used to city noise, the sound of waves might actually keep you up at first.

The location is sort of perfect if you want to explore the southern part of Rhodes without dealing with the madness up in Rhodes Town or Lindos. Gennadi village has this one taverna – Maria’s, I think – where they do this lamb that’s ridiculous, and it’s literally a five-minute walk from the studio. You’re also close enough to drive to Prasonisi (that windsurfing spot at the very tip of the island) or even make a day trip to those seven springs everyone talks about. The whole area feels authentically Greek in a way that’s getting harder to find. Look, I’ve stayed in plenty of 4-star places that felt sterile and overpriced, but this studio has that 9.6 rating for good reason – it’s one of those rare spots where someone clearly thought about what actual travelers need rather than what looks good in photos. If you’re the type who values a genuine experience over fancy lobby marble, you’ll probably love it here.

  Everything was great! Had the entire property to myself. It was off season so noone was around so I had a fantastic quiet and peaceful time. The house was exactly like the photos: large bed, great WiFi, 2 balcony is with both countryside & Sea views 😁. The communication with the host was outstanding and received a frw bottles of Cuba Libre 😊. Would definitely recommend Beachfront Socrates 👌 Thank you so much for a nice stay
