You know what caught me off guard about the Ayit Hotel? It’s actually tucked away in Theologos, not right in the thick of Paradisi where most tourists end up – and honestly, that’s probably its biggest selling point. I mean, you’re still close enough to the airport that you won’t stress about early flights, but far enough from the main drag that you can actually hear yourself think.

The place has this lived-in feel that a lot of four-star hotels try too hard to achieve. The lobby’s got these traditional Greek touches without going overboard on the whole “island paradise” theme, if you know what I mean. Check-in was smooth – the staff actually remembered my name by day two, which doesn’t happen everywhere. My room faced the gardens (well, sort of gardens mixed with local vegetation), and I could hear roosters in the morning from nearby properties. Some people might find that annoying, but it felt authentically Greek to me. The air conditioning worked properly, which – let’s be honest – is what really matters in Rhodes during summer. Bathroom was decent sized, though the shower pressure could’ve been better.

What I really appreciated was how the hotel sits in relation to everything else. You’re about a ten-minute walk to some local tavernas that tourists haven’t completely discovered yet, and the bus connections to Rhodes Town are actually pretty reliable from this area. The hotel’s pool area gets busy around mid-afternoon when families return from beach trips, but mornings are perfect if you want to swim some laps or just float around with a coffee. There’s this one spot by the poolside bar where you can see clear to the hills, and the evening light hits just right around seven. The breakfast spread is solid – nothing fancy, but they do fresh local honey and the coffee’s strong enough to wake you up properly. Parking’s free and there’s plenty of space, which saved me about fifteen euros a day compared to staying closer to the old town. I’d say the 8.1 rating makes sense – it’s not going to blow your mind, but everything works the way it should, the location’s actually pretty smart once you figure out the area, and you’ll spend less time fighting crowds when you just want to relax by the pool after a day exploring the island.

  Close to the airport. Overnight flight delay.

  The pool area was great and the staff was very friendly and tried to be helpful. If you have a car, it’s close to everything you need.
  
  What could be improved: The airplanes taking off are loud but that goes with the location. We should have guessed. 😀
  The breakfast choice is very poor – we stayed for 11days and it was the same every morning (no ham or sausage, that’s what we missed the most).
  The room was tiny compared to the pictures. It might be a problem for some people to sit on the toilet, the space between the wall and shower is very narrow. I missed some shelves for my stuff in the bathroom.
  On the top of that, the TV in the room was missing the first day we arrived. I asked about that at the reception and was promised one but did not get it til the end.

  The staff was super friendly and always find a solution for everything we need. The pool is shared just with a view people, therefor you can relax a lot!

  Had everything needed for a one night stay at the airport. Breakfast was fine, dinner outside was nice (besides planes flying overhead but that’s what you get when you book close to the airport! Not the hotel’s fault). Staff on site were friendly. No complaints on the stay.
  
  What could be improved: There is no airport shuttle as listed, and this was a big part of why we booked this property. A few hours before arriving at the airport, I called reception to ask where and how to meet the shuttle and we were told all they can do is book a taxi, and it’s too late to arrange (arrival was 6pm we called around 12). Some stress added. The next morning they did arrange a taxi which was expensive (20 euros for the 6 min ride – our 35min airport taxi to Old Town was 31). This all could have been communicated much better – every hotel we came across offers a taxi booking service so this was a bit misleading to list this way.

  Staff were exceptionally hospitable. Nothing was too much trouble for them. We arrived really late but they made us feel very comfortable. Location was perfect as only 10mins from airport and we needed a nearby place before we headed off to our main location. Thanks for having us

  The cleanliness is exceptional, the whole hotel is spotless and well kept, the pool area is outstanding, very private and ideal for relaxing. The staff were very friendly, welcoming and professional; the value for money is excellent. Our room was very nice and comfortable. The hotel has high quality and classy furnitures (good taste). By car is close to the butterfly Valley, which is a very good spot to see in the area! Highly recommended.
