You know what struck me first about the Avalon Boutique Hotel? It’s tucked away on this narrow cobblestone street in the heart of Rhodes’ Old Town, and honestly, I almost walked past it twice before spotting the discrete entrance. Haritos Street isn’t one of those main tourist drags – it’s actually one of those quieter medieval lanes where you can still hear your footsteps echoing off the ancient walls, which I mean, that’s exactly what you want when you’re staying inside a UNESCO World Heritage site.

The thing about staying here is that you’re literally living inside history. I’m talking about waking up and stepping out your door to find yourself surrounded by 14th-century Knights’ Quarter architecture, with the Palace of the Grand Master just a five-minute walk away. But here’s what the guidebooks don’t tell you – early morning is when the Old Town really comes alive for locals. Around 7 AM, before the cruise ship crowds arrive, you’ll see shopkeepers hosing down their storefronts and the smell of fresh bougatsa drifting from the little bakeries. The Avalon sits right in the sweet spot where you’re close enough to everything (the Street of the Knights is practically around the corner) but far enough from Sokratous Street that you won’t hear drunk tourists stumbling back at 2 AM.

What really impressed me was how they’ve managed to blend modern comfort with the medieval setting without making it feel like some tacky themed hotel. The rooms actually feel sophisticated – think boutique hotel vibes with stone accents and local textiles, not castle dungeon decor. The staff genuinely knows the area too, which sounds obvious but you’d be surprised how many hotels just hand you a generic city map. When I asked about good spots for sunset drinks away from the tourist traps, they pointed me toward this little terrace bar near Roloi Clock Tower that I never would have found otherwise. Oh, and parking – since everyone asks – there’s a public lot about a 10-minute walk away near the New Market, but honestly, once you’re settled in the Old Town, you won’t need your car anyway. Everything’s walkable, and the bus to Lindos or the beach towns picks up right outside the walls. That 8.8 rating makes total sense when you factor in the location, the service, and the fact that you’re essentially sleeping inside a medieval fortress without sacrificing your morning coffee quality or WiFi speed.

  The little boutique hotel was a small sanctuary within the walls of Rhodes Old Town. It provided a shade and warm welcome from those who met us.
  It was clean and tastefully arranged. Cool in the hot days as it is within the old town building walls designed to keep the heat away. It is in the centre of the old town buzz, yet so quiet in the hotel area.
  The staff exceptionally earl and provided electric taxi services to taxi – very much needed in the hot days and pebbled roads.
  
  What could be improved: The bathroom needs a bit of TLC, but it is very clean!

  The location in the middle of the mideveal town was awesome. We liked the space the residence offered and the nice breakfasts served in the garden.

  What a gem, staff were friendly, we stayed in the Villa was exactly what we needed.
  its located in old town which was perfect right near all the sites and great restaurants in walking distance
  We only had breakfast one day , but it was nice.
  Clean rooms , nice courtyard to sit in.
  Taxi driver called them advising we were coming from the airport and staff member met us on the outside of old town with a golf buggy and transported us and our luggage to our room

  Very dark bathrooms not enough lighting , we put the lamps in there.
  Couldn’t get the lights so turn on in kitchen, but we ate out anyways

  Really nice hotel in the old city just near the knights palace. Very comfortable room and a shady, relaxing courtyard perfect for a drink on a hot afternoon. All staff went out of their way to be helpful . Excellent breakfast and great recommendations from them for best restaurants nearby. Highly recommended.

  We loved our stay at Avalon. The location is absolutely perfect for exploring Rhodes old town. The hotel is very peaceful with a beautiful courtyard. The room was very well appointed, comfortable and clean. The breakfast was delicious and staff very kind. Would highly recommend it
