Look, I’ve stayed at a lot of places in Rhodes over the years, but Atlantica Dreams Resort in Gennadi actually surprised me – and honestly, that’s saying something because I’m pretty picky about hotels. The thing is, most people rush to Lindos or stick around Rhodes Town, but Gennadi? It’s this sleepy fishing village on the southeast coast that feels like the Greece you imagine in your head before you actually get there.

The resort itself sits right on this gorgeous stretch of beach that – I mean, you can literally roll out of bed and be on sand that’s somehow both soft and not annoyingly clingy within two minutes. What really got me though was how they’ve managed to make a five-star place feel relaxed instead of stuffy. You know what I mean? Like, the lobby is impressive with all that marble and those views, but you don’t feel weird walking through in flip-flops after a day at the beach. The rooms are spacious (actually spacious, not hotel-brochure spacious), and mine had this balcony that looked out over the Aegean where you could watch the fishing boats head out at dawn if you’re an early riser like me. The air conditioning works properly too – which, trust me, matters in July when it’s pushing 35 degrees.

Here’s the thing about Gennadi that the tourist books don’t really tell you: it’s perfectly positioned if you want to explore but also want to escape. Lindos is about 20 minutes up the coast, so you can easily do a day trip to see the acropolis without dealing with the crowds and overpriced tavernas every single meal. But honestly, some of my best dinners were right in the village – there’s this family-run place called Tamam (the locals will point you toward it) where the grilled octopus is ridiculous and costs half what you’d pay in the tourist zones. The hotel’s restaurants are solid too, especially for breakfast, though I’d skip the formal dinner service and head into town most nights. The staff genuinely seems to enjoy working there, which you notice in little ways – like how the housekeeping team remembered I preferred extra towels, or how the front desk guy (I think his name was Kostas?) always had good recommendations that weren’t just the obvious tourist traps. Parking is easy and free, the wifi actually works throughout the property, and the pool area manages to feel lively during the day without turning into a party zone. September’s probably the sweet spot if you can swing it – still warm enough for swimming, but the August crowds have thinned out and the locals are more relaxed.

  WOOOOW! Amazing Resort that has everything you need and more. The staff is really caring especially George ( Customer Relations Manager ) who upgraded our room for no extra charge and was always checking up on us. We couldn’t have asked for a better vacation and time with our young son. This place has everything from daytime activities for adults and kids, a water park, gym, an outdoor and indoor pool and unbelievable food and drink options. Truly one of the best vacations we have had and the staff and venue was a big reason for that. Will definitely come again and this time bring more family and friends.

  The best customer service ever! All the team were amazing. Shout out to George and Stelios who went above and beyond. We were gifted a floating breakfast and a voucher to use at the spa. All the staff were amazing and couldn’t have done more for us.

  This is undoubtedly one of the best hotels in the world. The staff were exceptionally kind, always smiling and helpful. We had direct access to the pool from our balcony, which was a fantastic feature. The food was delicious with a wide variety of options. The all-inclusive drinks and cocktails were excellent. The hotel is located close to the sea, in a peaceful area away from the crowds.
  
  We rented a car and explored the island – the hotel’s location was perfect for that. Special thanks to Manager George, the Greek restaurant manager, and the bartender Inna – having such professionals on the team is like winning the lottery.
  
  I wholeheartedly recommend this hotel to everyone. For the first time in my life, I’ll be returning to a hotel I’ve already stayed at – that’s how impressed I was. Truly something extraordinary. Thank you very much, and warm regards!
  
  What could be improved: Unfortunately, not all housekeeping staff members speak English. We requested a later cleaning time—just 10 minutes after housekeeping first arrived at 10:00 AM—but unfortunately, no one came back. When I tried to explain this to the lady, she nodded and said she understood, but it was clear she did not.
  
  Another downside were the prices at the spa, especially for massages. Even with a promotion, €160 for a massage is quite expensive. The massage itself was fine, but it wasn’t anything special that would make us want to return. We later went to Bamboo Thai Massage in the new market area of Rhodes, and I can honestly recommend it wholeheartedly. I paid €55 for a massage there, and it was an excellent experience. My father had the same opinion.
  
  To sum up, the price at the hotel spa is significantly too high for the quality provided.

  We stayed at Atlantica Dreams Resort as a family of 8 adults and 2 babies, and in one word – WOW.
  
  The resort is all-inclusive and offers several pool areas, bars everywhere (including a swim-up bar), and breathtaking views of the sea. The restaurants are of a very high standard, and there's no shortage of activities: a sports bar, a kids' water park, evening shows and entertainment for both kids and adults, piano players in the lobby – you simply can't get bored!
  
  What truly stood out above all was the exceptional service. We’ve stayed in hundreds of hotels around the world, but we’ve never experienced service quite like this. When we arrived, we discovered that due to booking different room types, each of our 4 rooms was located in a different area of the resort. George, the Front Office Supervisor, immediately stepped in, rearranged our rooms, and even upgraded some of them — just to make sure our entire family could stay in the same area. And he did all of this without charging us anything extra.
  
  After receiving our rooms, we were greeted by Marios and Stelios, who took the time to explain all the amazing facilities the resort offers. But it didn’t stop there — throughout our entire stay, Marios and Stelios kept checking in with us to see how they could help and make our vacation even more perfect.

  Without a doubt, we’ll be returning to this resort for our next vacation. If we could rate it 1,000 stars, we absolutely would!

  From the moment we arrived, we were warmly welcomed by the hotel staff and received exceptional personal attention. The service throughout our stay was outstanding. Our room was spacious, clean, and offered breathtaking views.
  
  The hotel’s facilities are truly top-notch – everything you could possibly need is right there. Multiple bars, great restaurants, a relaxing spa, several beautiful pools, a sports bar – it’s all available within the resort, making it a perfect place to unwind without needing to leave the property.
  
  The food was absolutely fantastic. Each meal was rich in variety, fresh, and beautifully presented. From local Greek dishes to international cuisine, there was something for everyone.
  
  A special mention goes to George, the head of reception, who went above and beyond to make our stay memorable. He was incredibly generous, attentive, and truly made us feel like valued guests. He is one of a kind!

  Staff made us feel welcome and special on arrival and throughout our stay. The buffet food was varied and good quality. The theme restaurants were excellent. A lot of organised activities were available and the evening entertainment was good. Overall the resort was very well maintained.
  
  What could be improved: The pool bars had food of variable quality. The beach directly by the hotel is a bit stoney. The water in the swimming pools and water park area was pretty cold in May!
