You know what struck me first about Astronomy Studios? The name actually makes sense once you’re there – I mean, Profitis Amos sits up on this hill above Faliraki, and honestly, the night sky is pretty spectacular. Most people think Faliraki and immediately picture the party strip down by the beach, but this place is tucked away in the quieter residential area where you can actually hear yourself think.

The studios themselves are solid – nothing fancy, but everything works the way it should, which is more than I can say for some places I’ve stayed in Rhodes. The kitchenettes are properly equipped (not just for show), and the balconies… well, some face the hills and others catch glimpses of the sea if you crane your neck just right. What I really appreciated was how clean everything felt – not that sterile hotel clean, but actually lived-in clean, if that makes sense. The owners clearly care about the details. Check-in was refreshingly straightforward too, none of that drawn-out reception desk theater you get at bigger hotels.

Here’s the thing about the location that most booking sites won’t tell you – you’re about a 15-minute walk down to the main Faliraki beach, which sounds like a trek but it’s actually perfect. Close enough that you can easily pop down for dinner or a swim, but far enough up the hill that you escape all the noise when the British tourists get properly started around 11 PM. There’s this little minimarket just down the road where the owner, Dimitri, knows everyone’s order by day three, and honestly, his coffee is better than what you’ll get at most of the beachfront cafes. If you’re planning to explore the island – and you should, because Lindos is only about 20 minutes by car – there’s decent parking right outside, which in Rhodes is basically winning the lottery.

The 9.5 rating isn’t just inflated review nonsense either. I stayed here twice, once in June and once in September, and both times the experience was consistently good. June gets busy with families, but it never felt overcrowded, and September was just about perfect – warm enough for the beach but not that oppressive August heat. The air conditioning works properly (crucial detail), the WiFi reaches everywhere it should, and the shower pressure is actually decent. I mean, it’s not a spa retreat or anything, but for a 4-star place in this price range, everything just… works.

Look, if you want to be right in the thick of Faliraki’s party scene, this probably isn’t your spot. But if you want a proper base for exploring Rhodes – somewhere you can cook breakfast, have a quiet evening with a glass of wine, and still easily access the beaches and nightlife when you want it – Astronomy Studios hits that sweet spot. Plus, the sunset views from some of those balconies are genuinely gorgeous, especially if you grab one of the higher-floor units.

  Melina and Stergos were super friendly and accommodating hosts, easy to talk to in english or even german.
  
  Even an early arrival was no problem, everything was extra easy, parking in front of the house, there are lovely cats on the premise, the view is nice, and Anthony Quinn Bay is a 15 minute walk.
  
  We enjoyed our time and will gladly recommend it to friends.
  
  What could be improved: Really just a minor thing. I get why there's no stove, but the kitchen could be propped up a bit, some essentials like salt, pepper, and salad bowls would be great.
