Honestly, I wasn’t expecting much when I first pulled up to Asterias Beach Resort – you know how these beachfront places can sometimes promise the world and deliver a glorified motel. But this place actually surprised me in the best way possible. The moment you walk through those doors, there’s this immediate sense that someone really thought about the details here. The lobby doesn’t scream “look at how fancy we are” – it’s more like walking into a really well-designed friend’s house, if your friend happened to have incredible taste and a serious budget.

What really sold me on this place, though, is the location on Afandou Beach. I mean, most people rush straight to Lindos or Rhodes Town (and I get it), but Afandou is honestly one of those spots that locals actually use – which tells you everything you need to know. The beach stretches for miles, and even in peak summer, you’re not fighting for towel space like you would at some of the more famous spots. The water here has this really gentle slope, so it’s perfect if you’re traveling with kids, but there’s also enough of a breeze that the windsurfers love it too. You’ll see them out there pretty much every afternoon, and honestly, it’s kind of mesmerizing to watch while you’re nursing a coffee on the resort’s terrace.

The resort itself hits that sweet spot where it feels luxurious without being stuffy – and trust me, I’ve stayed at places where you feel like you need to whisper in the hallways. The rooms are spacious (actually spacious, not “European spacious”), and they’ve clearly been updated recently because everything works the way it should. The air conditioning doesn’t sound like a jet engine, the shower has proper water pressure, and there’s enough storage space for more than just a weekend bag. What I really appreciated was how quiet it stays at night – the sound insulation must be good because even with families around, you don’t hear kids running around in the hallways at all hours. The staff genuinely seems to know what they’re doing too; check-in was smooth, they had actual recommendations for local tavernas (not just the tourist traps), and when I had an issue with my safe, someone was up to fix it within fifteen minutes. You know what really impressed me though? They keep the common areas clean without being obsessive about it – like, you can actually relax by the pool with a drink without someone immediately swooping in to clear your glass. For a five-star place with an 8.7 rating, it delivers on both the luxury and the laid-back Greek island vibe, which honestly isn’t as easy to pull off as you’d think.

  The property was HUGE! This resort was stunning, from the views in the morning to the views at the night. The staff were exceptional and gave us the most amazing stay. We were upgraded to the private pool room, and the sea view rooms were just immaculate. We were not bored at all, from the entertainment to the programmes the property had on, it was perfect! Thank you for an amazing stay!
  
  What could be improved: The only downfall would be the ants and bugs that got into the room.. but as soon as we told the receptionist, they dealt with the matter swiftly but I would still stay again

  What could be improved: Too few loungers and umbrella’s on beach, however the hotel were fantastic at helping out. We enjoyed 3 wonderful days on the beach rather than pool side

  The hotel staff is super friendly and caring, they did their best to provide the best service. The hotel has a great location, separate beach access, beautiful garden and comfortable facilities to enjoy the stay.

  Staff are very friendly and helpful. The hotel itself is very clean and in a great location by the beach.
  
  What could be improved: There isn’t a lot to do in the surrounding area but not an issue if you hire a car/bike.

  Resort was lovely and had all the amenities, I especially liked the chill out pool as it was closer to the sea and you got a stronger breeze and it had comfier sun beds! The spa was great too and had special offers. Staff were very friendly and helpful. Was a 10 min walk to the local town which had shops and bars. Perfect location to view the island
  
  What could be improved: No full length mirror in the rooms which was expected in a 5star hotel. The beach was stony when getting into the sea.

  We had a very good stay here, the staff is sooooo friendly, everybodyfrom the cleaning ladies to the reception and especially the staff in the restaurant! The food was excellent, good variety and everyday also greek specialities… Thanks to Thea , Anastasia and the maitre , they Made us feel so welcome. The hotel,was also very very clean everywhere.
  
  What could be improved: A bit sad was that they have a la carte restaurant, but this was only open for 1 day a week…the beds are not super comfortable, if you are looking for a lot of animation, this is not the right hotel, but for us this was perfect. If you want bars or shops, then you need to take a taxi to the nearest centre.

  The staff was very welcoming and the animators were fantastic, specifically Daria and Giulia who did an amazing job with the kids.
  The location of the resort is great, with private access to the beach. Very good for families with kids.
  
  What could be improved: There was plenty of variety of food in every main meals, however I was expecting better quality of ingredients.
  It would also be very good to have a playground with more equipment.
