Hotel Description

You know what struck me first about AQUAMARE CITY and BEACH? The name actually makes sense – and that’s rarer than you’d think in Greece. This place really does give you the best of both worlds, sitting right on Kos Street in Rhodes Town where you can literally walk to the medieval Old Town in about ten minutes, but still wake up to proper sea views.

I mean, it’s not going to blow your mind with flashy lobbies or anything – it’s a solid 4-star that knows what it’s doing. The location is honestly perfect if you’re the type who wants to explore Rhodes Town properly. You’re close enough to hear the ferry horns in the morning (which I actually found charming after the first day), and you can walk to that little bakery on Sokratous Street for those incredible bougatsa pastries. The hotel itself feels authentically Greek without being touristy about it – the staff actually live here and know the island, so when they recommend that fish taverna near Mandraki Harbor, you should listen.

What I really appreciated was how they handle the whole city-meets-beach thing. The rooms facing the water – and honestly, try to get one of those – have these small balconies where you can watch the boats heading to Symi in the early morning. There’s something about having coffee while watching the locals set up their fishing nets that just… works. The beach access isn’t some pristine resort strip, but it’s real Rhodes coastline where you’ll see families from town coming down for evening swims. The water’s that incredible Aegean blue-green that photographs never quite capture right. Parking can be a bit of a dance during high season (July and August get pretty intense), but the hotel staff will point you toward the municipal lot that’s cheaper than the tourist traps.

The rooms themselves are what you’d expect from a well-run 4-star – clean, comfortable beds, decent WiFi, and those little touches like actually good shower pressure. Nothing revolutionary, but nothing to complain about either. The 8.3 rating feels about right – it’s not trying to be the Ritz, but it does its job really well. I stayed during shoulder season in May and found it peaceful enough to actually read on the balcony, though I imagine it gets livelier when the cruise ships are in port.

Here’s the thing though – this hotel works because it gets Rhodes right. You’re not stuck in some resort bubble where everything costs double and feels artificial. Walk five minutes and you’re buying fruit from vendors who’ve had the same spots for decades, or stumbling into those tiny ouzeries tucked behind the tourist streets. The hotel feels like part of the actual town rather than just dropped on top of it, which honestly makes all the difference when you’re trying to get a real feel for a place like Rhodes.

Reviews

  • Claire from United Kingdom – 10 June 2025 (9/10)

Friendly helpful staff, very clean accommodation and lots of variety in the breakfast buffet.

What could be improved: There was nothing to not like.

  • Martin from United Kingdom – 20 October 2024 (9/10)

Great staff, really good breakfast choices and a very clean hotel.

What could be improved: Fairly noisy air con (we used ear plugs each night)

  • Ronald from Israel – 5 October 2024 (7/10)

The location is great, staff was good and the food was ok and the casino is close

What could be improved: The room is big but there is not enough space to put your stuff, The showers were so small I needed to shower with the door open and still it wasn't enough .
The hotel doesn't have parking and the parking was a bit difficult to find.

  • Peter from United States – 19 September 2024 (9/10)

The hotel is in a great location. The beach is two blocks away snd it is an easy walk to shopping, restaurants and Old Town. The room is a good size and well maintained. The breakfast was very good with a large selection. Staff was helpful with any questions I had.

  • Anna from Australia – 17 September 2024 (9/10)

Location, appearance of decor, quality of rooms, bars and breakfast presentation and choices of foods were exceptional. Staff were nice and very friendly.

What could be improved: 2 single beds joined together to pretend to be double bed. Annoying and not truly representative of what is advertised.

  • Sotiroula from Cyprus – 15 September 2024 (9/10)

Perfect location really in the city centre and 15 min walk distance from old town

  • Meir from Israel – 14 September 2024 (9/10)

Very nicely design and great staff.

What could be improved: No laundry line

  • Jithin from United Kingdom – 9 August 2024 (7/10)

Great location, close to beach and old town!

What could be improved: Not quite sea view unless you get certain rooms. Water pressure from shower was poor.

  • Nataliia from Ukraine – 2 July 2024 (9/10)

excellent breakfasts, comfortable beds and pillows, toiletries

What could be improved: no beach towels

  • Brian from Canada – 30 June 2024 (9/10)

Excellent restaurant. Super friendly and helpful staff. Lots of space in rooms, spacious balcony, and the comfy pool area made the stay even more pleasant, particularly for the kids. Great location within walking distance of old town, port, beaches and many restaurants.

What could be improved: The only negative was the noise from the street on the weekend nights, but that didn’t disturb us much. We had an excellent stay and plan to return.
