Hotel Description

You know what struck me first about the April Medieval Hotel? It’s actually tucked into the old town in a way that feels deliberate – like someone really thought about where to put it. On Ippodamou Street, you’re close enough to hear the evening buzz from the main squares but far enough that you’re not dealing with drunk tourists stumbling past your window at 2 AM. I mean, Rhodes Town can get pretty lively, especially during summer months.

The medieval theme here isn’t just slapped on for show – they’ve actually done something thoughtful with it. The stone archways and courtyard space feel authentic rather than cheesy, probably because they’re working with a building that has some real history to it. Honestly, the 4-star rating feels about right; it’s solid without trying to be fancy. The rooms have character – thick walls that keep things surprisingly quiet, and you get these little details like wrought iron touches that don’t feel mass-produced. Air conditioning works well too, which matters more than you’d think when you’re dealing with Greek summers. The bathrooms are updated but not sterile, if that makes sense.

What I really appreciated was how the staff actually knows the area. They’ll point you toward the smaller tavernas that locals hit up, not just the obvious tourist spots near the Palace of the Grand Masters. The breakfast setup is honest – nothing extraordinary, but fresh bread and local honey, strong coffee, the kind of spread that gets you ready for a day of wandering cobblestone streets. Parking can be tricky in the old town (let’s be real, it’s tricky everywhere in Rhodes Town), but they’ll sort you out with directions to spots that won’t cost you a fortune or leave you circling for an hour.

The 7.9 rating seems fair – this isn’t a place that’ll blow your mind, but it delivers on what it promises. You’re staying inside the medieval walls, walking distance to everything that matters, in a place that respects both the history and your need for decent Wi-Fi and a comfortable bed. During shoulder season, it’s actually pretty peaceful; you can sit in their little courtyard area in the evening and just listen to the sounds of the old town settling down for the night. It’s the sort of place where you remember why you wanted to visit Rhodes in the first place – for the atmosphere, the sense of stepping back in time, but without having to rough it or pretend you’re on some medieval adventure. Sometimes that balance is exactly what you need.

I recently visited April Medieval Town and was truly impressed! The place has an authentic medieval atmosphere, with beautifully preserved buildings and charming cobblestone streets. It’s perfect for history lovers and photography enthusiasts. Everything was well organized, and the staff was friendly and eager to share information.
Definitely worth a visit in the heart of Old Town.

    Nothing….

What could be improved: When I called to check if there was availability, they tried to bypass Booking and told me they only accept direct reservations. While the nightly fee here is €122 + €10 tax, they told me the price is €200 per night.

I still made a reservation through Booking, but when I arrived, they forced me to pay the €10 tax in cash. Even though I showed them proof that I had already paid the extra charges on Booking, they insisted that it had to be paid in cash. The staff were quite rude, so I ended up paying just to avoid the hassle.

Later, they gave me a different room than the one shown in the pictures, and it smelled of dampness. When I pointed this out, the staff mocked me as if they were hearing the word “humidity” for the first time and claimed there was no dampness at all—despite the fact that there was already a dehumidifier in the room. All I asked was for them to bring one more, but they brushed us off saying they’d take care of it. When I returned to the room, nothing had changed.

Since the room didn’t even have a window to the outside, I had trouble breathing due to the humidity and had a very difficult night. On top of that, I noticed a stain on the bed sheet. I couldn’t understand the receptionist’s attitude—acting as if I was staying for free and responding rudely to everything I said. The next day, I left without a second thought.

No one should be fooled by the photos—don’t even consider staying here.
