Hotel Description

Look, I’ve stayed at plenty of places in Rhodes, but Antigone Estate in Koskinou honestly caught me off guard – and that 9.8 rating isn’t just inflated booking site nonsense. You know how sometimes you book a place based on photos and cross your fingers? Well, this actually delivered. The estate sits in this quiet pocket of Koskinou village, maybe ten minutes from Rhodes town but feels like you’ve escaped to somewhere your Greek grandmother might have lived (if you’re lucky enough to have one). The moment you walk through those traditional stone walls, there’s this immediate sense of… I don’t know, authenticity? Like someone actually cared about preserving something real instead of just slapping together another generic hotel.

What really got me was the attention to detail – and I mean the stuff you don’t see in glossy brochures. The rooms have these gorgeous restored stone walls that stay cool even when it’s blazing outside, which honestly saved my sanity during that July heat wave. The owner, this lovely local woman, actually lives on the property and you’ll probably meet her wandering the gardens in the morning. She grows her own herbs – you can smell the rosemary and oregano from the courtyard – and somehow always knows exactly which taverna in the village is serving the best moussaka that week. Speaking of the village, Koskinou itself is this gem that most tourists completely miss. There’s a traditional kafeneio where the old-timers play backgammon, and if you walk about five minutes down the cobblestone streets, you’ll find this little bakery that opens at 6 AM with the most incredible tiropita. The estate is tucked away enough that you won’t hear any traffic noise, but close enough that you can actually walk to the beach at Kallithea – though honestly, I’d recommend the short drive to Anthony Quinn Bay instead.

Here’s what I really appreciated: the place feels lived-in, not sterile. There are cats that wander the property (friendly ones, don’t worry), and in the evenings you’ll hear the church bells from the village mixed with the sound of families having dinner on their terraces. The pool area is perfect for that afternoon siesta – surrounded by olive trees and jasmine that smells incredible at sunset. Parking is easy, which anyone who’s driven in Rhodes will tell you is a minor miracle. The only thing I’d mention is that if you’re expecting a bustling hotel with activities and entertainment, this isn’t it. But if you want to feel like you’re actually staying in Greece, not just visiting a resort that happens to be in Greece, then this is exactly what you’re looking for. I mean, where else can you have breakfast with homemade jam from fruit trees in your backyard and still be at Lindos in thirty minutes?

Beautifully maintained property with every convenience at your disposal: a fully equipped kitchen (including birthday cake candles and practically every appliance needed to prepare even the most demanding meals), a garden barbecue area, separate outdoor toilets for men and women, and a bathroom with a washing machine, etc. Stunning multi-zone lighting for the garden and pool. Parking for 4 cars. Sliding gate located on an elevation – offering great privacy in this location.

What could be improved: There wasn’t a single thing we didn’t like. After a family discussion, one of the children mentioned that there are quite a few chicken coops in the area and the rooster crowing was a bit too persistent – but come on, is that really a drawback?

  • David from Denmark – 20 August 2024 (10/10)

Fantastic villa. Spent so much of the days at the poolside enjoying sunshine in lovely setting. Ionnis met us nearby and directed us to villa and was always a phone call or text message away for help and recommendations of where to eat nearby. Would recommend to any couple or family looking for a peaceful relaxing break. Thanks so much.

What could be improved: Everything was great.

Great property, lots of trees and green space. A generous size swimming pool.
The property offers great privacy, amazing location if you’re looking to have your own space, close to Anthony Quinn Bay (our favourite beach).
We’ve spent a week at Antigone Estate and we highly recommend it! Ioannis the host was very helpful and provided a lot of tips and information on local attractions.
Koskinou village is only 5 mins away by car, a traditional Greek village, we loved it!
Lindos is also 50 min away by car, another amazing village which you must not miss.

Thank you Ioannis, we hope we will be back x

  • Katja from Finland – 28 June 2023 (10/10)

The accommodation was wonderful. It was better than I could tell from the pictures. We really liked the private yard, pool and fruit trees. We also enjoyed the countryside feeling, only a short drive from the tourist areas of Rhodes. Ionnis is a great host, who really cares about the success of your vacation.

  • Lara from Germany – 17 June 2023 (10/10)

Clean and well maintained property. Amazing pool area. Quiet area. Fruit trees from which we made delicious orange juice. Working BBQ facilities. Toilets directly by the pool. Ioannis is a super sweet, easy-going, and attentive person.

What could be improved: Only one key was available, so we couldn't split up and do different things if wanted to…but that no biggie😊
