You know what struck me first about Anssami Villa? It’s tucked away on this quiet little street called Isiodou, but you’re literally a five-minute walk from all the medieval craziness of Rhodes Old Town. I mean, you can actually hear the tour groups and street musicians during the day, but somehow it doesn’t feel overwhelming – more like you’re getting the soundtrack without being stuck in the middle of it all.
The place itself is honestly refreshing in a world of cookie-cutter hotels. It’s got that authentic Greek villa vibe without trying too hard, if that makes sense. The owners clearly know what they’re doing – that 9.3 rating isn’t just luck. I loved how they’ve managed to keep things intimate (it’s not huge, which is perfect) while still having all the stuff you actually need. The rooms have this lived-in elegance thing going on, with local touches that feel genuine rather than staged for Instagram. And honestly, the air conditioning works properly, which – trust me – matters a lot more than you think when you’re dealing with Greek summers.
What really sets this place apart is the location knowledge you get from staying here. The staff actually lives in Rhodes, so when they recommend that little taverna around the corner or tell you the best time to hit the Palace of the Grand Master (early morning, by the way, before the cruise ship crowds arrive), they’re not reading from some tourist script. You’re close enough to walk to Mandraki Harbor for sunset drinks, but far enough from the main drags that you can actually sleep at night. Plus – and this is key – parking isn’t a nightmare like it is closer to the walls of the old city. I actually managed to find street parking most days, though the hotel can sort you out with options if you’re not feeling adventurous. The whole area has this neighborhood feel where you’ll start recognizing the same local faces at the corner café, but you’re still minutes away from all the historical sites and that gorgeous coastline everyone comes to Rhodes for. It’s sort of the best of both worlds, really.
