You know what struck me first about Anesis Traditional Rhodian House? It’s actually in Kattavía – and I mean the real Kattavía, not some touristy strip closer to Rhodes Town. This is way down south where the island gets wild and honest, about as far from the cruise ship crowds as you can get while still being on Rhodes. The house itself feels like someone’s beloved family home that they’ve opened up to travelers, which honestly might be exactly what it is.

The traditional architecture here isn’t just for show – these thick stone walls actually keep the place cool during those brutal August afternoons when the rest of the island is baking. I loved how the rooms have this lived-in authenticity without sacrificing comfort. The floors are these gorgeous local stones that feel amazing under bare feet, and there’s this subtle scent of wild herbs that drifts in from the surrounding hills. You’ll hear roosters in the morning (fair warning if you’re not a morning person), but honestly it adds to the whole experience rather than being annoying. The owner clearly knows what they’re doing – check-in was smooth, they had great recommendations for the hidden beaches nearby, and parking is never an issue down here like it can be in Rhodes Old Town.

What really makes this place special is the location, though I’ll admit it’s not for everyone. Kattavía is beautifully isolated – you’re looking at about a 45-minute drive to the more developed parts of the island, but that’s exactly the point. This is where you come when you want to experience Rhodes the way it was before mass tourism. Prasonisi Beach is practically on your doorstep (amazing for windsurfing if that’s your thing), and there are these incredible hiking trails that most visitors never even know exist. The 9.7 rating makes complete sense once you understand what Anesis is trying to be – it’s not trying to compete with the big resort hotels up north with their pools and entertainment programs. Instead, it’s offering something increasingly rare: an authentic slice of Greek island life where you can actually hear the waves at night and see every star in the sky. If you’re the type who needs room service and a concierge, this probably isn’t your spot. But if you want to wake up to mountain views, spend your days exploring empty beaches, and fall asleep to the sound of crickets rather than air conditioning units, then honestly, you’d be hard-pressed to find anywhere better on Rhodes.

  The house is beautiful. It has small nooks for reading, a full kitchen, and the most perfect outdoor space. They had arranged for Water, wine, balloons and more for my birthday. Furthermore, the hosts were very helpful with booking car rental and guiding us when we had questions. All in all we were extremely pleased with everything from the house, the hosts, to the small village it lies in.

  We had a wonderful stay at Anesis Traditional Rhodian House. The location was perfect. The house was fully equipped with everything we needed to make our stay comfortable and relaxing. The house is beautifully decorated with a traditional vibe and is spotless clean.
  Most of all the host Louie is very professional and ready to reply to questions and fulfil any request!

  I would like to make a fair comment to the place to prepare the new comers, since by heart I would say it was perfect.
  
  It has a beautiful closed garden, where you can relax. The kitchen is new and complete. The traditional rooms are superb and cool (fresh) it is a pity we stayed very little there.
  
  The house is located in a private venue not far from the centre and 200m by foot from the road where you can leave your car. No noise outside.
  
  10 minuts from prasonisi!!!!!!
  
  What could be improved: The noise from inside (fridge, doors, wooden steps), if you are a group of 6 it will be hard not to disturb late sleepers. But I think you can handle it.
  
  The sun in the morning, there is little cover from early sunrays in the morning, if you need complete darkness bring a night mask.
  
  I did not find anything to dry towels and swimsuits.
