You know what really caught me off guard about Anastasia’s Garden House? The name actually makes perfect sense once you’re there – I mean, this place really does feel like staying in someone’s lovingly tended garden that just happens to have incredibly comfortable rooms attached. It’s tucked away on Vounara Street in Ialyssos, which honestly took me a minute to find the first time (the GPS got a bit confused with the “17A” part), but that’s sort of the point. You’re away from the main tourist drag without being stuck in the middle of nowhere.

The whole property has this lived-in authenticity that you don’t always get with four-star places – not overly polished, but everything works exactly as it should. The garden areas are genuinely spectacular, with these huge oleander bushes and citrus trees that smell incredible in the evenings, and I actually spent more time out there than I expected. There’s something about the way they’ve arranged the seating areas… it feels private even when other guests are around. The rooms themselves are spacious and cool (thank god, because Rhodes in summer is no joke), with proper air conditioning that doesn’t sound like a jet engine. Small thing, but the shower pressure is excellent – you’d be surprised how many Greek hotels get that wrong.

What really sets this place apart though is the location knowledge you get from staying here. Ialyssos isn’t as touristy as Rhodes Town, which means you’re getting dinner recommendations from locals rather than tourist trap suggestions. The beach is maybe a ten-minute walk – not the famous Butterfly Valley (that’s a bit further), but a really solid stretch of sand and pebbles where you can actually find a spot even in August. Parking is straightforward, which believe me, matters a lot in this part of Rhodes. The staff clearly know their stuff about the island; they pointed me toward this little taverna called Symposium that I never would have found otherwise, and it ended up being one of my best meals of the trip. Honestly, the 9.4 rating makes complete sense – it’s the kind of place where every detail has been thought through by people who actually care about hospitality rather than just checking boxes.

  I am someone who has visited (and photographed) 90 out of the 92 Greek inhabited islands with 5 or more residents. I have been to not less than 200 Greek standard accommodations, so I know what I am talking about. I have never seen an accommodation, regardless of price, that is better equipped than this one. Furthermore, it is arranged with a specific personal taste that is astonishing. In these two semi-detached houses – for 6 people at most (3 in each), one finds anything that might be needed or wanted. For example, a microwave oven, a washing machine, all possible kitchen facilities and vessels, various utensils, spices, you name it ….. And Anastasia is a very friendly and highly educated person who will help you with anything (and any information) desired or necessary. It is already clear that a house like this should be very nice inside and outside, and clean. It is. And will be a pleasure to stay for a longer vacation, not just for a day or two. The inner house has a large garden with a lot of space for a big table and many chairs and a bench, so if 4-6 people rent the two houses, they will have a nice time in the garden every evening.
  
  What could be improved: This is not a dislike – the accommodation is more than a kilometer from the beach, so a car or other vehicle is mandatory. The same goes for shopping and visiting taverns. Not very far, but not exactly for walking, especially in the heat. Parking inside the house. The larger distance is an asset actually – no traffic noise all day and night.

  Cute little greek house on calm and quiet location. Very well equiped, there was all we needed and even more. You have all facilities like at home (fridge, waschmaschine, iron, kitchen equipment). House was well arranged and PERFECTLY clean. You have some private space in front of house to rest after a hot day or eat a breakfast. At most 10mins by walk from main square/street, a bit more from main Ialysos beach. Shops/market/bakery close around. Also a private parking place is available (great for rented car). Anastasia was the best host! Always available, very responsive and very hearty. You could feel a Greek hospitality here! Totally recommend.

  Πολύ όμορφο σπίτι, έχει τα πάντα, ένιωσα σαν να είμαι σπίτι μου.
  Καθαρό,άνετο, με τα όμορφα λουλούδια στα παρτέρια του, (φαίνεται το χέρι της καλής νοικοκυράς)…. Σίγουρα θα το προτιμήσω ξανά στο επόμενο ταξίδι μου στην αγαπημένη μου Ρόδο ❤️❤️❤️

  C’è davvero tutto ciò che serve, esattamente come a casa propria. Appartamento pulitissimo, letto comodo, zona tranquilla ma strategica e ben collegata. Anastasia, la proprietaria, è una signora gentilissima ed estremamente disponibile per qualunque esigenza, ci ha dato moltissime informazioni utili sulle spiagge più belle e i ristoranti col miglior rapporto qualità/prezzo nella zona! Consiglio vivamente e spero di tornare al più presto, grazie di tutto cara Anastasia!!
