Hotel Description

You know what caught me off guard about Anastasia Grand Villa? The silence. I mean, when you’re driving down to Kattavia – and honestly, it’s quite the journey from Rhodes town, about an hour through winding mountain roads – you sort of expect to find… well, not much. This is the absolute southern tip of the island, where most tourists never venture. But then you pull up to this elegant villa, and it’s like discovering a secret that locals have been keeping to themselves.

The thing about staying in Kattavia is that you’re basically at the edge of Greece here. Walk ten minutes from the hotel and you’re at Prasonisi Beach, where the Aegean and Mediterranean literally meet – you can actually see the line where the two seas converge, especially on calmer days. It’s wild. The hotel itself sits perfectly positioned to take advantage of this geography. From my room’s balcony (and honestly, every room seems to have killer views), you get this expansive vista that stretches to the horizon. No cruise ships, no beach bars blasting music, just endless blue water and the kind of quiet that makes you realize how much noise you live with back home.

What really impressed me about Anastasia Grand Villa – beyond that 9.6 rating, which actually feels accurate – is how they’ve managed to create something sophisticated without being stuffy. The interiors have this Greek island elegance thing down pat, lots of white and blue obviously, but done with actual taste. The staff genuinely seems to care about what you’re up to, not in an intrusive way, but like they want you to discover the good stuff. They’ll tell you about the little taverna in the village (literally just a few buildings, but the fish is incredible), or when the wind conditions are perfect for watching the kitesurfers at Prasonisi. Check-in was refreshingly straightforward too – no upselling, no complications, just here’s your key and here’s how to find the best sunset spot.

The location thing is crucial to understand though. This isn’t party central or shopping paradise – the nearest real town is Monolithos, and even that’s pretty quiet. But if you’re the type who gets energized by dramatic landscapes and wants to experience Greek island life without the crowds, Kattavia is perfect. You’re close enough to explore the medieval castle ruins at Kritinia, or take day trips up to Lindos (though plan for the drive), but far enough south that you feel like you’ve escaped. I actually found myself staying put more than I expected, just because the hotel grounds and immediate area were so peaceful. There’s something about being at the literal end of the road – Route 95 just stops in Kattavia – that makes you slow down in the best possible way.
