You know what struck me first about Ammos Stegna? The name actually makes perfect sense once you’re there – “ammos” means sand in Greek, and honestly, you’re basically steps away from one of Rhodes’ most underrated beaches. I mean, everyone flocks to Lindos or Faliraki, but Stegna Beach has this quieter, more authentic Greek island vibe that feels like you’ve stumbled onto something special.

The hotel sits right in the village of Stegna, which is technically part of Archangelos – about a 30-minute drive from Rhodes Town if you’re keeping track. What I love about this spot is that it’s not trying to be some massive resort complex. It’s more intimate, family-run feeling, and the owners clearly know what they’re doing (that 9.8 rating isn’t a fluke). The rooms have this clean, modern Greek aesthetic – white walls, blue accents, you know the drill – but it doesn’t feel cliché. There’s decent air conditioning (crucial in summer), and most rooms have balconies where you can actually hear the waves at night. Parking’s no issue either, which honestly surprised me since a lot of these beachfront places make you hunt for spots.

Here’s the thing that really won me over though – the location is perfectly positioned for exploring this part of Rhodes that most tourists completely miss. You’re literally a five-minute walk to Stegna Beach, which has this gorgeous mix of sand and pebbles, crystal-clear water, and a handful of tavernas that serve fresh fish right off the boats. But you’re also close enough to drive to Tsambika Beach (maybe 10 minutes) or even make day trips to the Seven Springs or the monastery at Thari. The coastal road along this stretch is absolutely stunning, especially in the early morning when the light hits the cliffs just right. I actually found myself waking up early just to walk down to the beach before the day got too hot – something about the combination of the sea breeze and the sound of the waves felt almost meditative. The staff speaks good English and they’re genuinely helpful with recommendations, not just trying to push their own restaurant or tours. September and early October are probably the sweet spot for visiting – still warm enough for swimming but without the August crowds.

  -perfect location with nice balcony. The apartment is in front of the small beach with beds and umbrellas which are included in the price of the apartment
  -very well equipped (kettle, toaster, there was also coffee and tee at the apartment). At the arrival we got some fruits and wine 🙂

  Pretty village at bottom of steep road with shop and restaurants. Apartment on beach. Beautiful views and nice neighbours. Host very friendly and helpful.

  Das schön eingerichtete Appartement liegt direkt am Meer! Vom Balkon hat man einen traumhaften Blick auf das türkisblaue Wasser! Minimärkte und Tavernen sind leicht zu erreichen. Giannis, der Vermieter, steht immer freundlichst mit Rat und Tat zur Seite. Perfekte Destination für einen ruhigen Griechenlandurlaub! Wenn möglich, komme ich wieder!
