You know what hit me first about Alonia Traditional House? The silence. I mean, actual silence – not the kind hotels promise but don’t deliver. This place sits tucked away in Malona village, and honestly, the Eparchiaki Odos road leading there feels like it just… stops. In the best way possible. The village itself has maybe a dozen houses scattered around, and Alonia blends right in with the local stone architecture – which I actually appreciated after staying at too many places that scream “tourist hotel.”

The owner, Maria (at least I think that was her name), greeted us like we were distant relatives she hadn’t seen in years. She’s clearly been doing this for a while because she had this way of anticipating what we needed before we asked. The rooms are what you’d expect from a traditional Greek house – thick stone walls that keep everything surprisingly cool, even in July heat, and these heavy wooden shutters that block out every bit of morning light if you’re trying to sleep in. The bathroom was modern enough without feeling out of place, though the shower pressure was just okay – not great, not terrible. What really got me was the little terrace outside our room where you could sit with morning coffee and watch the goats wander around the hillside. Sounds cheesy, but it’s actually pretty mesmerizing.

The location is sort of perfect if you want to explore this part of Greece without dealing with crowds. You’re about twenty minutes from some really solid beaches (locals go to Plathiena, not the obvious touristy ones), and the drive to Lindos takes maybe forty-five minutes through some gorgeous countryside. Parking is never an issue – there’s plenty of space, which anyone who’s driven around Greek islands will tell you is not a given. Evenings are dead quiet except for the occasional church bell and whatever sounds goats make at night. The whole area feels like it hasn’t quite caught up with modern tourism yet, which depending on your perspective is either perfect or potentially boring. For us, after a week of busy island hopping, it was exactly what we needed. Maria recommended this tiny taverna in the next village over that doesn’t even have a sign – just follow the smell of grilled octopus, she said – and she was absolutely right.

  This is a fantastic place! Despite the late hour, the whole family welcomed us warmly! The apartment is beautiful, fully equipped kitchen, very clean, private pool, sun loungers. Everything's great!

  Die Unterkunft liegt in einem ruhigen Örtchen. Wir hatten einen Mietwagen und somit war für uns alles sehr gut erreichbar. Im Ort gibt es aber fußläufig auch ein kleines Geschäft und Restaurants.
  Die Unterkunft bietet alles was man so braucht, das einzige was fehlte war eine Kaffeemaschine. Es war sehr sauber und die Vermieter sind sehr freundlich und zuvorkommend gewesen. Wir hatten sogar ein paar Lebensmittel im Kühlschrank, als wir ankamen.
  
  What could be improved: Das ist jetzt jammern auf hohem Niveau, uns war das Bett etwas zu unbequem.

  A szállásadó és családja szuperkedvesek voltak; Minden nap valamivel kedveskedtek: friss gyümölcs, zöldség, helyi specialitások.
  Érkezésünkkor hûtött italok, gyümölcs és szendvicsnek valò várt a hûtôben.
  A szállás nagyon jól felszerelt, kényelmes és a medence szuper.
  Elhelyezkedése tökéletes: Lindos 20 perc, strand 10 perc autòval. A helyi élelmiszerbolt, ahol mindent megkap az ember amire szüksége lehet 5 perc séta.
  Mindenkinek csak ajánlani tudom. Egyszerûen tökéletes!
