Hotel Description
You know what struck me first about Alia Apartments? The location is just ridiculously good – and I mean that in the best way possible. It’s tucked on Kitsou Tzavela street, which honestly sounds intimidating if you don’t speak Greek, but it’s actually this quiet little road that puts you right in the sweet spot of Rhodes Town. You’re literally a three-minute walk from the medieval Old Town walls, but far enough away that you’re not dealing with the tourist chaos at all hours. I stayed here last September and kept being surprised by how peaceful it was at night, considering you can practically see the Palace of the Grand Master from some of the upper floor windows.
The apartments themselves are… well, they’re proper apartments, not those weird hotel-apartment hybrids where nothing quite works right. The kitchenettes actually have decent-sized fridges (trust me, this matters when you’re buying Greek yogurt and fresh figs from the morning market), and the air conditioning doesn’t sound like a jet engine – which is saying something for a 4-star place in Greece. What really impressed me was the attention to small details that most places completely miss. The shower pressure is honestly excellent, there are enough electrical outlets that you’re not playing musical chairs with your chargers, and – this might sound silly – but the curtains actually block out light properly. If you’ve ever tried to sleep in a Mediterranean summer with inadequate curtains, you’ll understand why this matters.
The staff runs the place like they actually care about it, which you can tell immediately when you walk in. Check-in was smooth (I arrived around 2 PM on a busy day), and they gave me genuinely useful local tips – not just the standard tourist brochure stuff. They told me which tavernas the locals actually eat at versus the tourist traps, and honestly, that advice alone was worth it. The building itself has this understated elegance that works perfectly with the historic neighborhood – it’s modern and comfortable without trying to pretend it’s some ancient Greek palace. Parking can be a bit tricky in this area, I won’t lie, but there’s a public lot about two blocks away, and walking through those narrow streets with your luggage isn’t the worst thing in the world. The 8.8 rating makes total sense once you’ve been there – it’s the kind of place that just works without any drama, which is exactly what you want when you’re trying to explore one of the most beautiful islands in Greece.

The apartment is located in a quiet neighbourhood, about 15 mins walk to the old town and to Zephyros beach – which is lovely and quiet, and not full of tourists. There's a supermarket, greengrocer and fishmonger just a few minutes away – which was super convenient. The owner was lovely and really helpful, and her family's hotel just round the corner offers a lovely breakfast. The beds are comfy, and everything is really well thought out. Would go back without hesitation! We loved our stay

We very much liked the service. Nicole and her daughter Elie were fantastic and made sure we had a comfortable staying.
We loved how comfy the bed and pillows were, the high standard and modern the whole apartment is! We love the fact that it was nearby pretty much everywhere.
The coffee shop down the street is amazing, the food and desserts 😋 the staff very friendly and the locals also quite friendly.
It was a shame we didn't have any cash in hand to leave some tip for Nicole and her daughter 😔 but defo, we will be back! Thank you Maria, thank you, Nicole and Elie, for the lovely service!
What could be improved: It would be nice if the balcony chairs and table would've been cleaned beforehand and also the kitchen tap, but, hey, that's just me… I pay attention to everything 😀 also the heating wasn't working and the room next to the balcony was cold but we called Maria and she promptly sent Nicole who fixed the matter by providing us with a little heating which we just used to warm up the room before we went to bed. We loved Rhodes, Alia's apartment, and Nicole service!Paul from Australia – 9 August 2022 (9/10)
We had a wonderful and memorable stay at Alia and would highly recommend it! Our host Maria was absolutely lovely and very accommodating, nothing was too hard for her. From the minute we arrived, and we arrived later than expected in the evening, she was there to greet us with a friendly smile, and showed us around. The apartment was spotless, spacious, with a great kitchen and laundry, and an external patio to relax, or to dry clothes. The bathroom was also great, spacious and with a good hairdryer, fresh towels and with everything we needed. Beds were super comfy and the fresh sheets smelt just beautiful. There are two bedrooms, one has a locked door but the second bedroom is open, and oh so stylish..reminded me of our stay in Santorini! It is perfect for families with kids. Maria had stocked the fridge with fresh juice, fruit, cheese, ham, bread etc. so breakfast was easy. Really felt at home here and the neighbourhood felt safe too. Parking was on the street, well positioned to the apartment. Short walk to shops and beach. There is a flight of stairs to get to the front door which was not a problem for us.. Overall we would stay here again if we get the chance. Thank you Maria for your impeccable service. 5 stars from us!
What could be improved: nothing.Andrew from Australia – 30 May 2025 (8/10)
Spacious apartment in a quiet street. Kitchen facilities were adequate. Washing machine was very handy – once we worked out that you need to slam the door shut for the start button to become active. There was a great restaurant nearby called "Kerasma".
What could be improved: A number of challenges – The first taxi driver could not find the place so I had to pinpoint it on Google maps; Then had to call the owner to come and let us into the apartment; The steep stairs up to the apartment were a challenge, especially with luggage; The electrical switchboard tripped out when we tried to lower the outside window shutters at night (so we were woken at 6am by sun streaming in the window – mad scramble for our eye-masks); Minimal hot water most mornings.Paulina from Poland – 11 July 2023 (8/10)
The property is located close to the old town, there are many shops, cafés and supermarkets nearby.
It has all the necessary amenities, comfy beds and a small balcony. The interior is very modern.
What could be improved: I asked the host to get our bathroom cleaned, but no one showed up for the whole week. It was really uncomfortable with 4 people taking showers twice a day. The floor was constantly messy (we did not get a rug to step on or a mop to wipe it ourselves either).
Also, there are glass doors to the bathroom that cannot be closed in any way which was really intimidating…Hayley from United Kingdom – 25 June 2023 (9/10)
A quiet location within walking distance of the port, marina and old town. It’s about 30/35 minutes to the new town and Elli beach.
Plenty of parking nearby too which is handy.
Very good aircon throughout the apartment and very comfortable beds, we slept really well!
Plenty of towels, washer, iron and a well stocked kitchen, you’ll find everything you need so really suitable for long terms stays. We’d definitely stay again 🙂
What could be improved: There were a lot of tiny ants in the bathroom, harmless but a bit of a nuisance. This seems to be quite common though as I’ve seen them in other places.
Communication with the host was a little difficult at times as she didn’t respond to WhatsApp, only phone calls which isn’t always convenient when out and about enjoying your holiday.Chelsea from United States – 11 August 2022 (8/10)
Good location, comfortable beds, clean and bright, wonderful water pressure in the shower, strong aircon and wifi. Easy to get to town and to the beach, but in a quieter residential area.
What could be improved: It was very hard to get ahold of the host. Also, note there is no door to the second bedroom, so there isn't much privacy and you can hear everything your roommates do.J from Switzerland – 7 April 2024 (7/10)
We were in Room 2 facing the front of the house, and stayed 5 nights. Quiet location in a residential area within walking distance to the old town, as well as a number of local bakeries, restaurants, cafes, pharmacy, and large supermarket. Plenty of parallel parking in the neighborhood. Comfortable bed downstairs. Good A/C. Lots of floor space in living room, plenty of open closets and hangers. Two sets of shower and hand towels per person. Plenty of toilet paper for the stay. Only soap, no other toiletries (also not as pictured). Great to have a washing machine (you have to buy your own detergent at the supermarket). Good room darkening shades and metal blinds. Motion detector lights in front of the apartment — great for safety, but they turned on around 2:30 (cat?) and stayed on every morning at 4, shining directly through the gaps in the blinds, waking us each day.
What could be improved: We were not able to reach the hostess, even at arrival via phone calls, WhatsApp, Booking.com chat. Eventually we found a real estate office phone number, who finally reached the hostess on an undisclosed number. We learned that the keys and invoice were outside on a table. The upper floor entrance to the apartment was not obvious from the direction we drove into the alley. We found the entire situation unnerving and unprofessional. The apartment itself — first, beware there is a very long flight of stairs, in case anyone in the party has limited mobility. Inside, there is minimal privacy (visual, audio) and individualized light control in the entire place (think of it rather as an open studio) — first bedroom is separated from the living room by a sliding screen which lets both light and sound through, and squeaks terribly; second bedroom is reached by open stairs to a platform above the kitchen overlooking the living room. The bathroom does not have a real door; it is a frosted swinging door — you can hear everything going on. The second room should have had two single beds, but instead was one large bed, completely unsuitable for our mixed party (family & friend). It was nice to have a balcony and laundry line, but it overlooked the alley and scraps dump yard. This is not the balcony as was pictured when I booked. The kitchen was sticky, easily infested with ants, refrigerator/freezer doors open to the wrong direction facing the wall so very difficult to access (and we had to put everything including teabags into the fridge to avoid ants). The bathroom was a steamy, messy disaster due to the half shower door (the hand shower was old and did not work, not as pictured when we booked) — we soaked both foot mats immediately, and had to dry them each night on the balcony. For 4 people and several nights, there should be multiple mats provided and a better way to dry things (clothes rack inside).
