You know what struck me first about Aletreo? It’s actually tucked away on this quiet side street – Markou Malliaraki – which honestly most tourists probably walk right past without noticing. I mean, you’re literally a three-minute stroll from all the medieval town chaos, but it feels like you’ve found this little pocket of calm that somehow escaped the crowds.

The building itself has that understated Greek elegance thing going on – not flashy, but you can tell someone put real thought into the details. Check-in was refreshingly smooth (no awkward lobby lingering), and the staff actually seemed to know the neighborhood beyond just pointing toward the Palace of the Grand Masters. One guy recommended this tiny taverna around the corner that I never would’ve found otherwise – turns out it’s where the locals go when they want to avoid the tourist prices on Sokratous Street. The rooms are what you’d expect from a solid four-star place, though I have to say the air conditioning worked like a dream, which honestly matters more than fancy marble when it’s 35 degrees outside in July.

What really sold me on this place was the location’s sweet spot factor. You’re close enough to walk to Mandraki Harbor for morning coffee – maybe ten minutes if you don’t get distracted by the shops – but far enough from the main drags that you’re not dealing with late-night party noise echoing off those ancient stone walls. I actually slept better here than at some of the fancier places I’ve stayed closer to the harbor, where you get cruise ship crowds at dawn whether you want them or not. The breakfast situation was solid too – nothing revolutionary, but proper Greek yogurt with local honey and decent coffee, which is really all you need before spending the day wandering around cobblestone streets. There’s something to be said for a place that gets the basics right without trying to impress you with unnecessary bells and whistles.

Look, Rhodes Town can be overwhelming with all the history and crowds and those Instagram-perfect sunset spots that are actually kind of touristy when you get there. Aletreo gives you a proper base camp vibe – comfortable, well-located, and run by people who seem to understand that sometimes travelers just want a clean, quiet room and some honest local recommendations. The 8.4 rating makes sense to me; it’s not trying to be the fanciest place on the island, but it delivers exactly what most people actually need for a Greek island stay.

  The appartment is nicely located, 2 minutes away from the Old Town and is also very pretty, decorated with good taste and very well equipped. I highly recommend and will come back on my next trip to rhodes.

  It is a big two bedroom apartment, with a lot of space.
  
  What could be improved: The appartment is in a very old residential building, on the second floor, with very steep stairs, without elevator. The neighbourhood is unapealing, with some local businesses having warehouses there. The people living in the building were not friendly. It is very next to the old town, but on the oposite side of the city center so taking a walk to the center takes around 25 minutes. Long story short, the appartment is ok but location and surrounding is not nice, and it affected our stay significantly, this making it very low value for money.

  Очень гостеприимные и радушные хозяева, информировали о всех возможностях, разрешили ранний заезд и поздний выезд, что спасло нас от ожиданий. За это им огромное человеческое спасибо! Квартира имеет свежий ремонт, чистая и уютная. Расположена на тихой улице, очень близко в центру и старому городу. Имеет удобную технику, множество сценариев освещения, очень полезную стиральную машинку с функцией сушки. Однозначно рекомендуем для проживания.

  + Lage etwas außerhalb der Stadtmauer (zentral, ruhig, paar Minuten zum Wasser). Merkt man sofort an dem Preis-/Leistungsverhältnis in Restaurants und Kaffee´s. Man bleibt von den Touristenströmen der Kreuzfahrtschiffe verschont.
  + frisch renoviertes und blitzsauberes Appartment. Ein Kompliment an den Innenarchtitekt und die Handwerker.
  + die grelle Farbgestaltung auf den Bilder in booking spiegelt NICHT die Realität wieder. Die Wohnung ist absolut geschmackvoll und dezent hergerichtet.
  + hochwertige Einrichtung und Geräte (großer Esstisch, perfekte Matratzen, ausreichend Schränke, Waschtrockner, Kochfeld, Nespresso-Maschine, Toaster, ect. . Geschirr für 6 Personen, ausgezeichneter WiFi-Empfang.
  + Tageslichtbad und Rollläden in den Schlafzimmern.
  + unser Ansprechparner Tilemachos war über WhatsApp super erreichbar und "rettete" unseren check-in in der Nacht
  Hinweis: den Code für die Schlüsselbox vorher notieren! Vor dem Haus hatten wir beide keinen Internet-Empfang und kamen nicht auf die entscheidende Page mit dem Code. Suboptimal bei Ankunft in der Nacht.

  What could be improved: Når vi kom var inngangsdøren veldig vanskelig å åpne opp med nøkkelen. Slik har døren vært hver gang vi har forlatt leiligheten og låst den og låst den opp. Unødvendig.
  
  Når vi kom var sluket på badet tett så ble oversvømmelse på gulvet.
  Vi sa ifra til eieren om dette men kunne ikke vente hele dagen på hjelp, så vi måtte fikse det selv med hendene våre. (Æsj!!) fullt av hår og stinket..
  
  Fra andre natt var det mye bråk i nabolaget på grunn av oppussing i bygget, lydene startet rundt 3-06:00 på natten og på morningen også.
  
  Soverommene hadde ingen speil, kun badet som hadde ett speil. Dette ble veldig lite for 4 jenter på tur.
  
  Vaskedamen kom kun en gang innom på en uke, hun tok med håndduker til oss men vasket ikke eller tok oppvask.
