Look, I’ve stayed at my fair share of Rhodes hotels, but this place on Ixia Avenue actually surprised me. The Akti Imperial sits right where the coast starts getting serious – you know that stretch where the wind picks up and the kite surfers come out to play? It’s honestly perfect if you’re into that kind of energy, though I should mention it can get a bit breezy (which, let’s be real, feels amazing in July but might catch you off guard in shoulder season).

What really got me was how they’ve managed to feel genuinely luxurious without being stuffy about it. The spa – and I’m usually skeptical about hotel spas – actually delivers. I mean, you can tell they’ve invested in proper therapists, not just someone who took a weekend course. The whole Dolce by Wyndham thing means they’ve got that international polish, but the staff still feels Greek, if that makes sense. They’ll chat with you about the best tavernas in Ixia village (skip the touristy ones right on the beach road, by the way) and actually seem to care whether you’re having a good time.

Here’s something most reviews won’t tell you – the rooms facing the sea can get pretty windy, especially on the higher floors, but honestly? That’s part of the charm. There’s something about falling asleep to those sounds, and the morning light coming off the water is just… well, it’s why you come to Greece, isn’t it? The pool area gets busy around 11 AM when the families stake out their spots, but if you’re an early riser like me, you’ll have it practically to yourself. Parking was surprisingly hassle-free – they’ve got a proper lot, not just some cramped street situation like a lot of places in town. One small thing though: the check-in process took longer than expected, even though we arrived at a reasonable hour. Nothing terrible, just something to factor in if you’re on a tight schedule. But honestly, once you’re settled in and you’re watching the sunset from their terrace with a proper Greek wine in hand, you’ll forget all about waiting an extra twenty minutes.

  Stayed for 2 nights as a last minute stay due to my father being hospitalised on the island. The staff were extremely helpful and understanding of my circumstances and made my stay as easy as possible. On top of that the facilities were excellent and the room very nice. Double room with a side sea view was perfect, great view of the sea and coastline. Strongly recommend this hotel.

  All round lovely hotel, me and the wife came here to get away for a week, was excellent and we loved it, we loved it that much that we flew back home, got our daughter and came straight back out. I love the pools and the different variety’s of foods. Pool bars and home made pizzas and gyros. Every day was different so it wasn’t repetitive! Beach was a short walk under a secret passage, all the entertainers and animation team were brilliant and very lively! can’t wait to come back! From Jacob and Louisa!
