So I stumbled across AKTI city apartment last spring, and honestly? It’s one of those finds that makes you feel a bit smug about your travel research skills. Located on Georgios Leontos street – which, let me tell you, is perfectly positioned without being right in the tourist chaos – this place gets the balance exactly right. You’re literally a five-minute stroll from the medieval Old Town walls, but far enough away that you’re not dealing with the cruise ship crowds stumbling back at 2 AM. The building itself has that lovely Greek residential vibe, you know what I mean? Not some sterile hotel block, but actually feels like you’re staying in someone’s thoughtfully designed home.

What really impressed me was how they’ve managed to nail the details that matter. The apartment (well, it’s more like a really well-appointed studio) has proper blackout curtains – and trust me, Rhodes gets serious morning sun that’ll wake you at 6 AM if you’re not prepared. The kitchen setup is actually functional, not just decorative like so many places, with a decent-sized fridge and a coffee setup that doesn’t make you want to immediately hunt down the nearest café. I mean, the café hunting is still fun, but it’s nice to have options. The Wi-Fi was rock solid too, which saved my life when I needed to sort out some work stuff – sometimes you just can’t escape it entirely, even on vacation.

The location really shines when you start exploring. You’ve got this perfect triangle thing going on – Old Town to the southeast, the New Market and main shopping area to the north, and the harbor with all its restaurants spreading out to the northeast. I found myself using it as a base camp, dropping off shopping bags or grabbing a quick shower between beach time and dinner. Speaking of which, there’s this little taverna called Mama Sofia’s just two blocks down that absolutely nobody talks about online, but the locals pack it every night around 9 PM. The check-in was refreshingly straightforward too – none of that awkward “meet me at the corner with the blue door” situation you sometimes get with apartment rentals. They’ve got it sorted professionally, but without losing that personal touch. Honestly, for the price point and that perfect 10 rating (which seemed almost too good to be true until I stayed there), AKTI manages to feel both like a local secret and a polished experience. It’s the kind of place that makes Rhodes feel accessible rather than overwhelming, especially if you’re someone who wants to actually experience the city instead of just passing through it.

  Amazing apartment with a even more Amazing Owner. Costas (The Owner) and Mari gave us as a group of 4 an exceptional experience, always helping us with everything we need and giving us answers even in late hours. Some say the place is its owner, And here it is very true. Costas a very kind and well organized man, welcomed us into the apartment with a face to face brief of everything we need to know about it. Bottom line I trully recommend this property for anyone who is looking for, good quality, exceptional location and an amazing owner!

  Where to start with this beautiful property!
  AKTI was by far our favourite accommodation over our month long stay in Greece. Costas and Mary went above and beyond to ensure our stay was comfortable and checked in on us every few days via text to make sure we were enjoying our stay! The host even had breakfast in the fridge for us and drinks when we arrived, and sent us top locations in Rhodes to visit including beaches, places to eat and local attractions. The unit was spacious, and extremely clean with everything you need including cleaning products, toiletries, and laundry supplies. The apartment was in a great location and had a very private entrance off the Main Street. We will definitely be staying at AKTI again! Costas and Mary are the most caring people who really looked after us in Rhodes!
