Hotel Description
Look, I’ll be honest – when I first saw “medieval windmill tower” in the listing, I thought it might be one of those gimmicky places that’s all Instagram and no substance. But walking up to this place on Omirou Street, just a quick two-minute stroll from the Palace of the Grand Masters, I realized this was something completely different. The tower itself is the real deal – actual medieval stone walls that have been standing here for centuries, and you can feel that history the moment you step inside. The thick walls keep things naturally cool even in July (trust me on this one), and there’s something almost magical about sleeping in a space that’s older than most European cities.
What really gets me about this place, though, is that view everyone talks about – and honestly, the photos don’t do it justice. From the upper levels, you’re looking out over the Old Town’s maze of cobblestone streets, the harbor where those massive cruise ships dock, and on clear mornings you can actually see the Turkish coast. I mean, I’ve stayed in plenty of hotels with “sea views” that turned out to be a sliver of blue between two buildings, but this is the real thing. The owner – lovely Greek family who’s been running boutique properties for years – actually told us the best times to catch the sunset from the tower, and they were spot on. Around 7:30 PM in summer, the light hits those medieval walls across the Old Town and everything just glows.
Now, you should know what you’re getting into here. This isn’t your typical hotel experience – it’s more like staying in a piece of living history that happens to have modern plumbing and WiFi. The stairs are narrow and winding (it’s a tower, after all), so if you’re traveling with heavy luggage or have mobility issues, definitely mention that when you book. Parking can be tricky since you’re right in the heart of the Old Town, but there’s a public lot about a five-minute walk away near the Archaeological Museum, and honestly, once you’re settled in, you won’t want to drive anywhere anyway. Everything worth seeing – the Street of the Knights, those incredible restaurants tucked into tiny alleyways, the harbor – it’s all within walking distance. The neighborhood gets pretty quiet after the day-trippers head back to their cruise ships, which means you get to experience the Old Town the way it’s meant to be experienced, especially in those early morning hours when the light is perfect and you’ve got the ancient streets mostly to yourself.

Location, views, unique accommodation. Inside, some agility needed to negotiate two flights of narrow steep step ladder with low headroom . Otherwise excellent.

The view, the location and the wonderful light in the top room. Very helpful owner.
What could be improved: The stairs and the shower take a little bit of getting used to.John from United Kingdom – 7 October 2024 (10/10)
Unique property in a great location. Inside the walls of the old town with restaurants and bars within easy walking distance. The views from the top floor are amazing. Great communication from the owner. Highly recommended.
What could be improved: The steep stairs may not suit those with mobility issues.Dennis from United States – 4 October 2024 (10/10)
Location was fantastic! The unit itself was very unique. It was a fun experience!
What could be improved: The owner was not involved in non-accommodating. I told him in advance that we would arrive at seven in the morning and he said we could check in at eight and then it wasn’t available till 11 and then one and then not until 6 o’clock so after being up for nine hours and basically losing a day and not being able to even store our luggage anywhere, we got into the room and figured things out on our own. I’m sure people have arrived early and have checked out at 11 o’clock in the past, but he had no suggestions as to where we could store our luggage. There was a fantastic restaurant the hill from his accommodation, we stopped to kill some time and they stored our luggage for us. They were very nice people in the island are very nice and accommodating.Scott from United States – 31 July 2024 (10/10)
Great view of the coast and the city!

The most incredible place to spend time in Rhodes. The best place I have ever spent the night. Waking up to the sunrise over the sea without leaving your bed, is crazy. Everything is completely modern facilty wise. Absolutely magical!

Great location in quiet part of old town. Great view from top floor and from large terrace around property.
What could be improved: We had an issue with hatch on top floor. As there was no sign to say that it shouldn't be opened,we opened it thinking it was a viewing hatch but couldn't get it closed again. When we contacted owner we received an abusive reply. Hatch was fixed promptly but owners attitude was not good. Other than that I would give 10 stars.Barry from United Kingdom – 10 October 2023 (8/10)
Fab property in an old windmill, highest point around with a view out of each of the 9 windows including sea views and of the old town. The property is well equipped for a couple with sunbeds and a table on the secure terrace. All of the 9 windows on the upper floor open allowing great ventilation and control. A short walk from the bus station and walking into the old town or the port couldn't be easier.
What could be improved: An issue at check in meant the last guest was still in the property when we arrived at 14:15. The host replied quickly to our messages and we got the key a little later than planned, dropped our luggage off and then had to go out while the cleaner prepared the property eventually getting it at 18:30.Ioana from Romania – 17 August 2023 (9/10)
The location is amazing, in the old town, close to all restaurants, bars and shops. Also in a quiet area. The view was amazing, the beds extremely comfortable.
Consider that being high, it gets windy.
Having some cold beer, wine and water in the fridge was an excellent surprise.
It is simply amazing!!
What could be improved: The terrace has 2 chairs and inside the kitchen there is only one chair, which would mean that they aren't enough for 4 persons. We were 3, but had to move them to sit all comfy.
That's all.Aki from Finland – 9 August 2023 (9/10)
A private sundeck in Middle of Old Town, perfect location for city vacation (relatively close to beach also). A unique experience all around. Especially good for (younger) couples…
What could be improved: VERY low water pressure and the entrance area requires some maintenance (quite a bit of weeds etc.)
