You know what struck me first about 1919’s House? The name actually makes sense when you see it – there’s this authentic early 20th century charm that feels completely genuine, not like some theme park version of “old Greece.” It sits right on the main road leading into Asklipiḯon, which honestly couldn’t be more perfect for exploring Rhodes’ quieter southeastern coast. I mean, you’re literally a few minutes from some of the island’s best beaches that most tourists never find because they’re stuck up in Rhodes Town.

The whole place has this lived-in elegance that’s hard to fake. The owners clearly know what they’re doing – that 9.4 rating isn’t just people being generous. Walking through, you notice things like original stonework mixed with thoughtful modern touches, and the rooms have this perfect balance where you feel the history without sacrificing comfort. The morning light streams in differently here than in those cookie-cutter resort places, probably because the windows are positioned to catch the natural patterns that have worked for a century. What really gets me is the attention to details that actually matter – like the water pressure is fantastic (always a gamble in older Greek properties), and the beds are properly comfortable, not just pretty to photograph.

The location is where this place really shines, though. Asklipiḯ is one of those villages where you can still hear roosters in the morning and church bells in the evening, but you’re not stuck in the middle of nowhere. The archaeological site of Asklepieion is practically walkable – well, it’s a bit of a hike, but totally doable if you’re reasonably fit. And here’s something the guidebooks won’t tell you: the local tavernas around here serve some of the best food on the island because they’re cooking for neighbors, not just passing tourists. I discovered this little place down the road where the owner’s grandmother still makes dolmades every morning – that kind of experience you just can’t plan for. The beaches at Kiotari and Gennadi are close enough for easy day trips, but you escape all that resort chaos. Actually, the drive down the coast from here might be one of the prettiest routes on Rhodes, especially in late afternoon when the light hits the hills just right. Parking isn’t an issue like it is in the main tourist areas, and you’ll sleep well – it’s quiet enough to hear the cicadas but not so remote that you feel cut off from everything.

  A sensitive restoration of a traditional village house with all the modern comforts. 1919’s House in Asklipio was a perfect place to be in the heart of a small historic village in the mountains, with the sea a 5 minute drive down. Cafes and tavernas in walking distance.

  The place was very interesting, spacious, with a great atmosphere of traditional Greek living. The kitchen is well equipped. The surroundings are tranquil and pleasant, walking about around the church and the castle are definitely worthwhile, one may even run into a deer or two in the outskirts. The locals are very friendly.
  
  What could be improved: The AC is very slightly noisy, a new sponge in the kitchen and one or two portions of washing powder for the washing machine would be nice.

  The apartment was located in traditional, beautyfull village close to seaside. The house was well-designed with the traditional touch of small details. Being there gave us the awesome and tasty expierences. Everything was clean and comfortable. Near local, fantastic snack bar with traditional GREEK cuisine & very friendly people. I hope that we will a have a chance to come back to Christina’s house 😍. Thank Christina for your hosting 👍 and home made gifts.

  The house was very clean and complete with furnishings that in a clever way mix traditional elements with modern solutions. Although it does not have a dominant view over the valley, 1919's House is perfectly positioned in the village, being very close to the market, the restaurants and the parking for the auto.
  
  What could be improved: The arrangement of the beds on the mezzanine is a typical solution of the Dodecanese islands (we changed three structures during our holidays and we have always found them) and we like it. In this case, perhaps the mezzanine was too custom-made for us (the only space available except the bed was a narrow passage all around).

  Appartamento delizioso e di ottimo gusto nel pieno dentro di questo adorabile villaggio.
  Christina estremamente disponibile ogni volta che le abbiamo chiesto qualcosa.
  
  What could be improved: Nella descrizione c'era scritto 2 camere da letto. Invece erano due minuscoli soppalchi entrambi con il materasso appoggiato per terra, con pochissimo spazio per girarci intorno per esempio per rifare il letto, con scale senza balaustra di protezione per accedere e senza porta. Una persona anziana sarebbe stata in seria difficoltà. Credo che la descrizione "2 camere da letto" non sia corretta.
  Aggiungo che ogni giorno dovevamo eliminare le formiche dalla cucina nonostante facessimo grande attenzione a non lasciare briciole di alcun genere in giro.
